Since one of the requirements for entering WIF contests is an Avatar Photo
I thought I would share a QUICK & EASY little program for Windows XP that makes resizing photos to fit the board a snap
You can locate the program here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
It is a windows powertoy made by Microsoft
Just go to right of page an roll down till yu see IMAGE RESIZER
Download and install it (I always select save option on downloads and save it to my computer then install after it is downloaded, but you can select run)
It is real small and a fast install, when it is done if you go to a picture and
put your mouse pointer over it and then right click, you will see in the window that opens
RESIZE PICTURES
For Avatars:
Position Mouse pointer over picture you want to use and Right click
Select Resize pictures option in box that opens
you will get a window that looks like this:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/timotha7/Image1.jpg
CLICK THE BUTTON WHICH SAYS ADVANCED
Then you will get an image which looks like this:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/timotha7/Image2.jpg
In this box select CUSTOM, then type in fits 150x150 screen which is a good sized picture for an avatar
THEN CLICK OK
The resized picture will be copied right next to the origional
Then go to your profile, edit your user options, select new avatar an
load the picture into your user data an there you go
Now, this is a very quick basic program, if you have a picture that is all backround with smaller image of you and you resize it, you may not be able to see the image of you at all in the avatar
If you have a picture that you are having problems getting set up or resized and you do not have imaging software to work with, let one of the staff
or myself know and we will fix it up so you can post it
