We have been doing well catching carp about a mile down stream from where to WIF gettogether is going to be held on the Rock river.
I am going to chum up that place before the gettogether to see if I can get the fish to feeding for us at that spot.
So we can have some fishing fun the day of the gettogether.

I have invited some other carp fishermen to join WIF who I think will be good members if they decide to join.

carp was first fish I ever caught, an it came on one of them bamboo poles that you bought at the 5 an dime 2 pieces an prestrung dacron line that had little bobber an hook an couple split shot on it

We were fishing worms at lake an bobber could not have been maybe 2 foot off shoreline an carp (I was 7 so I figgered it at bout 48lbs, but most likely remembering size now bout 3 or 4 lbs)
That carp pulled the top out of the bottom piece an I went an got it an
then ended up running back an forth holding on for dear life along that shore line till it got all covered in weeds an slowed down enuf that we could get hold of it

I can remember that day like it was yesterday!

That is a BIG FISH!
Wonder what he used for bait?
Saw a show where guy was taking big grass carp on fly rod an had a little
"fly" that looked almost like a berry
Was some trees dropping fruit into water on edge of canal where he was
fishing an he was using that to "match the hatch"

As I recollect he hooked up several times but only actually managed to
play one enough he could get his hands on it

they sure look to be STRONG fish

I haven't got one yet myself, But I haven't tried for them yet ether, Just may have to go for some soon. I know of guys that get them all the time they say that the fish do most of the Battle after you get them on the bank.

I have been trying for three years to go to the Austin Team challenge, This year I am going. I found a teammate and we are going in Mid. March. it is limited to 50 teams and most of the spots are gone already. It is held on Town Lake in Austin TX. where 30 and 40 pound carp are commonly caught.
Soupy do you want me to bring you one back on my way home for cat bait? :p

By the way... Good Luck on your fishin' trip... ! Soupy

and DON'T BRING ME NO CARP !

Thanks Soupy, Don't worry they won't let me take a carp from their water, It's catch and release only. They want the big ones to stay, So as to catch them again.
But the Hooters girls are a different story, Of couse I would have to fight off the other guys if I did talk one of them girls into comong home with me.

GOLD from the tourney

Thanks, Tim I think we have as good of a chance as any other team that hasn't fished it before. Besides there is the luck of the draw for a spot to fish. as you are confinded to that spot for your fishing, And redraw the next day for a spot, So as to mix it up a bit. Are you feeling better I hope you are.
