Ok, my dad swears by the Sheakspear reels and rods are they really that good or is it just my dad trying to make everyone think they are, lol. I've been keeping my eye on a couple of rods that are made by Sheakspear. Just wanted to know if their any good or are they cheaply made. The one pole I have is a very old fiberglass one if I remember my dad told me it was and doesn't even cast, lol. So I've been wanting to get a halfway decent one I can at least be able to cast out with. Wanted someone else opion other than my dads on this subject as you can well imagine, lol.

In my opnion the shakespear ugly stik rods are some of the best rods made..I have them from ultra light, all the way up to the more expensive ugly stik tiger rod, and they are all great.

Let me add my 2 cents in here... 'cause I just went and bought me a brand new -in-the-box Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6000 and a Shakespear Ugly Stik at Wally World today.
I had the cheaper Shakespear Rod a while back and I broke it on a 4 lb catfish... Said I'd never buy another Shakespear product again.. but, dummy me thought I give this Ugly Stik a try.(and they had a sale on them) I'll let you know what I think of them tomorrow nite.
(gonna use it as my lite tackle)

I also have 4 or 5 open faced Shakespear Reels.. They're ok for the smaller fish (under 20 lbs)

I have 4 tiger combos that have held up well, and they were bought
at wal mart on sale, good equipment for the money Thats my 2 cent
opnion, nice thing about wal mart if you have a problem and saved the
sales slip they will give your money back or replace it,as long as it dont
look like its been hit with a truck. The only thing that i recomend is throw
away the line that comes on the reels it aint worth .50 cents IMO.KIRK

Well i have 2 med action 6.6' 1 piece ugly stik rods 1 with a 6600 abu and 1 with a 6500 abu, so far i'm very pleased with the rod. But i have yet to catch anything that out weighs my bulldog on the rod. And this is the first year trying out the bait casters as a reel.
