Just wondering if anyone here bowfishes. I do it quite a bit if I'm not catfishing. In the Bowfishing Assn of America, I'm the State Rep. for Ohio. If anyone is interested in bowfishing give me a call or e-mail and we can go out.

Desperado, I've never bowfished or seen it done. Can you tell a bit about it here?
I enjoy shooting a bow during hunting season, but I don't know how different it would be to bowfishing. It seems it would make it more sporting (take some real skill to shoot the fish in the water).
Interesting topic!

Did this topic die? Where's Desperado? Anyone else know anything about bowfishing? I'd be interested in seeing some pics and hearing some stories. :-)
I haven't tried it, but I'd like to. I love bowhunting.

I'm here I have been working lots of hours. Here is a few sites on bowfishing you guys can check out. Bowfishusa.com, sullysbowfishing.com and backwaterbowfishing.com. I have two bowfishing bows, one is an older Ben Pearson recurve at 52 lbs. I have a AMS retriever reel on it (200 lb. line) with a fiberglass arrow tipped with a Muzzy fish point. The arrow is equiped with a ams safety slide system , which keeps the line out in front of the bow. I do shoot off the shelf with that bow. My other bow is a PSE Kingfisher take down recurve bow at 50 lbs. It also has a AMS retriever reel with a dovetail system to remove it off the bow for tranport and a fiberglass arrow with a Muzzy fish point and safety slides. I have a Dream rest on it made by F&D Archery. I have no-glove on both strings on the bows, so there is no need for a finger tab or release. Also very easy on the fingers. I don't have sights on these bows, but for some that need a pin to sight with. Just add it to the bow and go. Good Luck to all of you. If you need help with bow set up just drop me a line.

Thanks for the sites Desperado. I'm going to bookmark them for when I have a bit more surfing time. I'm still not sure if I want to invest money yet, but I'm always looking for something different to do (if you always stick with the same it can get boring). Anyways, thanks and I'll be sure to post back here when I've had a chance to look over the info.

Desperado, thanks so much for the great sites and advice. I'm hoping to find time this weekend to do some surfing. With the weather getting warmer I'm hoping to get out and fish. I'd also like to get around to trying this stuff this summer. =)

I use to go alot here in the Quad Cities when the rock river would flood. Havent gone in a while but if someone wanted to go out locally Id be more than willing to go with. Especially if someone has a good spot, got kicked off my old one, they told me I couldnt shoot standing on the side of a highway in Barstow.

Get on the bowfishusa.com site and see who lives in your area that bowfishes. Give them a call and they will be glad to take you out.
