My wife and I were really disappointed about a month ago when the rental agency we had gone through to rent a place for the winter in Mexico Beach Fla. called us to let us know the property we had rented had been sold.
What do we do now? While we were there last winter we looked extensively for a place we really liked and now it was gone.The two years prior to that we had some bad luck with the agency's we went through. Once they had our money they were unconcerned with any problems with the property.
I called the editor of the newspaper in Port St. Joe who I had met in person a few months prior while fishing the Florida Catfish Classic up in Wewahitchka, and asked him if he thought an ad in the paper looking for a winter home from a private owner would do any good. He shrugged his shoulders and said you never know. So we set it up to run once a week for four weeks.
What do you know, the first day out we had three responses and then probably a dozen the next three weeks. There were three that we really liked and were in the immediate area we wanted. One especially stood out to our liking and after a few calls and a couple of E-Mails our favorite choice became a done deal. The Owners wife and mine will work out the final details tonight.
I do thank all that responded to our ad and Will pass your info to others that we know that will be also coming down this winter. Schoe
