Ice not ready.

For those of you that may be thinking of venturing out on this early ice, It's time to cool it for a while. (excuse the pun)
I have info that a very experianced ice fisherman went through to his waist.:mad: His location was quite a bit north of here. He checked the ice and it was 4'' He took a few steps to drill another test hole and went through as the ice was only a little over an inch.
This is not uncommon for fast building early ice .
Sooo, let's just set back, have patience, and let nature take it's course. It does'n look like the cold is going anywhere soon, so there will be plenty of time when we do get safe ice. :D walk safely, Mike

temps will be back in the high 50's to low 60's here in Oklahoma this weekend, after this cold spell, warmer temps should turn the crappie on like mad.

cold what cold? been low 60's to mid 60's here nice and sunny out. I would like to try ice fishing but the only way I will here is to toss a fish in some ice and fish for it.

I saw some of that thin ice on the Rock River this Am as I was heading to John Deere Road in the Ambulance. Can't wait until spring thaws that out.

Boy, you guys sure know how to hurt a guy with all this warm talk. Next thing I know the good Capt. will be on here telling me about his sunbathing down in Flor-e-day.

well ........since its so far i was thinkin a week.takes bout 2 days travel to an from. thinkin again though 3 might be better......might be tempted to use one of the boys for bait bein cooped up that close together for that long lol........goin thru the ice is why i always wear waders ice fishin....lots of springs where i fish an go thru every year least once(keep findin new ones) explorin new spots.sure beats freezin to death tryin to git back to the truck an they cut the wind too

hmmmmmmmm....a three day ice fishing trip for WIF members.....I know of one really good lake in North Dakota, and a few more in Minnesota......hmmmmmmmm.
