If you guys haven't tried the bait runner you might want to. they are the best reels around. It's a spinning reel that has a bait runner switch. what this means is the fish can pull line from the reel like a clicker on a level wind but the difference is half a turn of the handle your back to the main drag. The line comes out softer with the bait runner than a level wind. they are a little pricey but well worth it. I use both kinds of reels for different reasons. This one's worth a try.

The Baitrunner series (3500, 4500, 6500) is superb. I've used both the older ambassaduers and the Shimano baitrunners and I can say that the Shimano 6500 is actually better than a baitcaster in some ways. I'm highly impressed with them.

I personally haven't used a baitrunner but am going to pick one up and try it. I suppose it will double as a reel for walleye fishing in big water? Schoe

Yes Schoe, as mentioned by Catwagon there is 3 sizes, I have all three and use them for different reason. When drifting a river for Salmon or Steelhead or Trout you can baitrun line out as your lure goes down river, kinda like free spooloing with a level wind. The great thing for Flats is you can just put your rod any where with no worry of losing it. When fishing the bank you can set your pole on the ground and prop your reel up a little with a little rock and wait for the sound of the runner, it's great. 6500 and 4500 for big cat and satwater 3500 for trout, steelhead, walleye, bass ect...

Tdpasser, Thanks for the info. I am going to pick a couple up and givve them a try. My wife always asks Why Do You Always Buy Two Of Everything, I guess it's that little voice that kicks in, that's the only thing I can think of. Schoe
