Today I made the trek up to Lake Bussey, a Mississippi River backwaters area on the North edge of Guttenburg, IA, I arrived to find a full parking lot. The promise of better weather really brought out the iceheads. The best bite is on the east side and the folks over there don't take well to visitors. Sooo, Like most, I treked the 1/2+ mile accross the lake.
The place I like to go is another1/4 mi. North. I ended up with shy of the 25 limit of gills. Only 8 were what I would call bigguns. I never did make use of the shack and heater I took along. It was just too nice out with a high of 42. I"ll try to post some pictures I took. On the way out , I stopped and chatted for a bit with a personable young lad that had already joined up before I got home and in the house from cleaning fish.:D Mike

How much ice do you have around your area?

I was 100+ miles further north than here at home. There was 6" of hard clear ice. They will be driving on it up there before the end of winter. I'd guess we got about 5" here. Mike

Around here we have between 5 and 8" depending on where you go. Kev went fishing last weekend an hour north of st. paul and got his first walleye of the season.
