Nice Crappie!!! Looks like you have plenty of ice to make use of that auger. Always neat to have a charming operator.
That looks like one of those new electric augers. Is it working out pretty good for you??? I know they have improved that technoligy a lot ,but with a shortage of ice down here, haven't heard any local reports on them.
Any first hand input would be appreciated. Keep it safe, thanks for posting the pictures. Mike

The Lazer Electra is the only cordless on the market all other electric augers need cables and another 12v batt. The small 7AmpH or 9AmpH batteries do just fine most of the time for me (That is the size of the internal batt.) BUT on realy cold days like any other batt. don't last long if not charged between uses. I have drilled 50 holes in one day on a single charge. The ice was about 14" thick and the temp was 25-35 degrees above. And the least I have had was on a day when the temp was -15 deg. in 18" of ice, I only drilled about 15 holes and it was dead. I bring plenty of spares with me, One in my Vex, One in the Under water camera, one in my Lowrance 332c and a spare to run the lights and fan in my portable. Over all... I wish now that I had spent the money on a Gas, but for someone in your area where I'm sure the ice don't get real thick and you probably dont go fishing when its -25* below 0 the unit would be great. I'll keep it around for Alicia, Its light enough for her and it will be nice if I ever get around to building a Hardside fish house... No gas fumes to deal with then.

Here's a link to the Strikemaster electra...

Live bait on a jig... Fish were some what slow, just needed a little wiggle out of the maggots and they'd take it, too much action and all they would do is look.

Captkev- Thanks for the great report on the auger.
I sure appreciate your honest opinion of their ability. Based on your experiance with it, I'd agree that it would probably work out great in this area.
I talked with a local fella that went way up north with a friend ice fishing. First time up there . It was up far enough that everyone drove out. He parked near a big group and got out his Mora 8" hand auger. As he started drilling, guys seen him and started showing up and made a circle around him sitting on buckets. He quickly seen that he was the object of a joke, and asked,"OK, so whats up here" They just wanted to watch him drill a hole:p .It turned out there was 3' of ice and would have been beyond quite a chore for that old hand auger. :D :D
One of them went and got a nice power auger and drilled a lot of holes for them. He never went north without a gas auger again. Mike
