My grandpa has a creek on his property that during the summer gets around 10 large carp swimming around. Well they are very skittish so I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make a rig to catch them? If I can't catch them I'll end up gigging one, because I need at least one for turtle bait. Thank you for yoru time.

skittish eh? approach from the shadows so you dont cast a shadow, they like to sun themselfs so your going to have to move slow and be quiet, try dumping a can of whole kernel korn juice and all into the creek, to attract them. then use a a splitshot and lower that in the water with a red wriggler on a very small hook or a dough ball with the hook inside........ if that dont work get out your gig and come in from opposite direction of the sun and aim under the shadow of the carp when its under the surface........

if it was me i would just my 12 ga. with some #6 shot and shoot them things. and if i didnt feel like cutten em up then i would get the big 10 ga. turkey gun and put my 00 buck shot in there and then shoot em with that and they would already be cut up for me.

Well in ohio I can't use any of the following:explosives, poisons, firearms, electricity, chemicals, nets, seines, or traps. Heck if I could use traps i'd find a bottle neck in creek and set a couple 330 conibears and catch them.

I think it was because he thought you were his age, or he was your age which ever came first.
Or else he was wishing he was your age, or that youth is wasted on the young. something like that.
Hey don't worry about it you have your whole life ahead of you we look back at ours some times as well as forward.
