Fished Smith Mountain Lake,Va.. We caught twentysix nice keepers.We were using small minnows, deep 32 ft.around brush piles.

first time here, can anyone tell me i am trying to fish for crappie in the Red river, in La. can yall give me some pointers, like depth, locations to look for, and anyting that will help. I have the bass, and cats but no crappie.

loggerhead, one of these fine folks could probably help you better then I could as far as what to look for. One thing you can look for is if you've got a gravel bottom. Depths can always vary, white crappie tend to like the water 61-71 degrees, and black crappie likes the water usually 70-75 degrees. That might be of some help to you. Like I said, some of these fine folks might be of better help then I could.
By the way, that's a nice mess of crappies you got there, wayneh77.
