Well I told Ya'll I'd keep Ya'll up to date, so here it is. I only wish I didn't have to write this one. We got SKUNKED.... We couldn't buy a bite to save our lives. There was a cold front (minor) that came through and kicked our butts. The water was so clear I could see my lure down in 6' of it. We tried everything under the sun and then some. The fish were on the beds looking up at us, and laughing I bet. We did manage to catch a pike which got our hopes up. After the tourney was over me and my partner (both extremly frustrated) figured out what we did wrong. Yes I did say after. We let the lake beat us. I can tell you this. That was the last time I let my emotions get in the way of my fishin'. Learning curve this time. Not going to harp on bad news. Next month I will miss because of the catfish rodeo. I am still going to prefish it with my partner. Maybe we can work out some of the bugs that only show up during a tournament.

I threw my white/smoke colored one all day. I wanted to get a pic and post it for Ya'll. Nothin' would hit it. I really tried. I threw it till the paint came off the top.

not good hushpuppy.what did ya figure out? went ice fishin on 10-12 inches of ice fri. an sat. got bored an went to the hot water lake yesterday again. musta quit pumpin hot water fri. (they do that a lot) cause the water at the ramp was only 48. found a lil warmer water but still couldnt git bit .thought we saw some white bass feedin so we tied on some 2 1/2 inch rapalas and ended up tearin up the largemouth lol found out it wasnt whites feedin for the most part.ended up with bout 25 12 to 17 inch bass a piece with one keeper over 18 an a few decent whites. our first tourneys the 18th of march an cant wait

Hush Puppy,Clear water bedding Bass is one of the toughest things that
you will run into,If you can see the Bass he can see you, that is the reason
that pinpoint casting is most important, you have to use lighter line and
make longer casts,If you make a shadow on the water you are going to
spook them,I use 6 to 8 lb test line and no weight with Culprit Worms
allowing it to settle on the bottom and move it very slow across the bedding
area,Black Cherry-Purple- or Root Beer, various lengths with curly tail and
dont stay with the same color very long,if i had but 1 choice it would be
Purple,I am no Pro but this is the way i would go at it. Good Luck Kirk

Kirk, I tried a "shakey head" setup but it was after about 5 hours and some bigtime frustration. I will deffinitly hit the next lake a little different. Speaking of that. Me and Bill are going to fish Tarpon this Saturday. Know any good spots to start with?

Hush Puppy,As soon as you clear the idle zone, take a hard left and try
the weed beds, there are also a lot of private docks along that side that
should be holding Bass, also which ever side that the wind is blowing towards
thats where the bait fish will be,get weedless and hit those pockets.
Hope this helps. Kirk

It's a better place than I had in mind. Don't look like Saturday will be too good anyhow. Freeze warnin's and all. Maybe we'll skip this weekend and go next.

If you can stand the weather you should go give it a look over, its a
shallow lake and should be warmed up more than most, another thing i
forgot to tell you is that there is no structure in the lake and very little
depth change from one end to the other, the deepest that i found was
14ft,there is so little cover that i saw 30 boats gathered around 1 stickup Crappie fishin.
Kirk
PS Just read Capt.Lennys last report,9 keepers in 6 hours using Black Worm,Pitching
under docks.
