Bluegill and Redear

Hey guys, I'm looking for a little help.....if anybody around here can help me it would be great!!! So here's the question.....How do I tell the difference between a Bluegill and a Redear (Sunfish maybe....is that politically correct??) I was just wondering because I have never really worried about it, but now I'm getting a little bit more serious about this and thought I should know!!! Thanks everybody!!

Redear sunfish have a bright red outline on that "ear" flap that on blue gills an other sunfish
is solid dark blue coloration

Taylor This is an old picture of my grandson, Brandon, now 12. He is holding a small red ear. On some small ones, the red part will be orange, but still be there. Red ear get much larger than bluegill. Mike

All those sunnies are pretty fish
I have a chart on them someplace if I can find it, shows them all by pictures
with info on them as well
have one for catfish too
Should be on one of the old discs I back up information on when I am
"house cleaning" on my computer
