kickapoo state park

park consists of numerous strip pits trollin motor only. extremely clear water for most of the year.winter and rainy days are best.large depth changes in most ponds also (40ft) with lots of weedbeds. all lakes have good populations of bass ,crappie an gills. each is a lil better than others at different times though. good access and camping available

kennekeuk county park

a few smaller ponds with the biggest being mingo, only 2 have boat access with a 10hp limit on mingo. good shore fishing access on most.mingo is about 1/3 standing timber with the rest having sharp drops an flats. heavily stocked with bass an cats.decent fishing once ya figure it out.

lake vermillion

very shallow heavily timbered lake, lake access fee charged. really startin to be a good bass lake, with lots of gills an crappie.really need to watch the depthfinder to do the best because a 1ft difference in depth means catchin big uns or lil ones.water clarity ranges from clear to pure mud as its fed by the river.

lincoln trails county park....marshal ill

10 hp limit with primitive camping and restraunt right on the lake.ecxellent place to take the family with the restraunt an dock fishing.weedy lake but they kill them off periodically an fishing stinks for a while after.good cats, gills, crappie and bass fishing

mill creek .........clark co. ill

long narrow lake with a couple long coves. 40mph speed limit and access fee charged. excellent camping, reservations a must also has 4 wheeler trails..lake has all the structure any one could want from standing timber to weeds and lots of deep water drops. gill fishins ok but crappie have been raped the last few years and average size is down from 12 inches to 8 or 9. 100 fish days are common for me there though so if ya wanna have fun.......cat size is down also for the same reasons, but still excellent numbers. bass fishing is good, and has a few tiger musky and hybrid stripers. catfish and bass tourneys are held here every weekend in the warmer months.

homer lake......champaign co.

very shallow lake, trollin motor only, gills run on the small side, crappies too,but tons of em. good bass and cat lake with tons of shore access an lake fee.

clinton lake...dewitt co.

hot water lake with lots of ramps, camping, beach ect. gits rough in a hurry in any kind of wind though.portions of the lake are closed in the winter round the discharge
has bass, gills, crappie, cats, white bass ,hybrid stripers, true stripers musky an walleye.
excellent fishin spot year round for bout whatever ya want. my favorites are sept./ oct. night walleye fishin an winter crappie around the dam area

vermillion river

good smallmouth/largemouth action and catfish also.musky were released in lake vermillion years back along with walleye an both made it to this river in numbers and are caught occasionally.personally have caught a 9 1/2 lb walleye and 49 1/2 inch musky in this river. access can be found thruout danville readilly but care should be taken if canoeing as there are 3 rollover dams within city limits

saltfork,middlefork,and little vermillion rivers

smallmouth are bout the best ive found anywhere numbers and size both.float trips on the saltfork last summer averaged 50 fish a day with almost a 2lb average. some channels and flatheads are abundant in spots also .access is VERY limited due to land being privately owned

Great to have you posting Littlebird. I have only fished Clinton lake one time last year and only caught a few fiddler Cats due to the windy conditions.

We would like to hold a weekend Get Together there at Clinton Lake for some of our members sometime this fall as it looks like a very fine lake to fish.

We would really appreciate it if you would keep us up to date on what is happening there. Thanks again for posting, Schoe

I've fished a spot more than Schoe!!! If two times on a lake counts.....

I'd love to fish there again, even from shore.

We ran our bankpoles for the first time this year in one of the small rivers in our area. We had out 20 poles baited with small bluegill. The flathead weighed 7lb.5oz and the channel cat went 4lb7oz.
