View Full Version : Carp
I've heard that using vanilla extract and bread balls makes a really good crap bait, do you guys/girls know any other things I can use for carp bait, sweet corn is suppost to be like the best
(wouldnt the vanilla on the bread ball fall off once its in the water?)

Put 1/2 box of Wheaties in the blender, add 1 cup of sugar 1/2 cup
of flour, then add flavor of your choice,Vannila ,garlic powder, anse,
take warm water and slowly work into the mix, work it by hand till it
becomes 1 big ball, pinch off a peice roll it in a ball and if you have it
mixed right use it on a trebble hook,if it gets to moist when mixing add
a little flour and rework the whole ball, when its right put it in a covered
plastic bowl, and it will keep a long time,if it starts to dry, rework with
small amounts of water and it will be like new, very good in river current,
stays on the hook.I suppose you could mix in drained whole corn put
with the mix in the blender,I have never tried it that way. Kirk

Kermit,Its worked the best for me over the years, stays on the hook
and holds the flavor longer, back up home we got a small river with
a low dam,and where the water flows over ,it has washed out back under
the dam and holds some carp to 25lb or more,we would get knee deep
in front of the dam and throw into the boiling water about 10 ft deep
and the bait would wash back where they were,It was a blast to be in
the river while fighting the fish when he got out in the current. When i
got married to the wife she had never been fishing before,so i figured that
would be a good place for her to learn how to handle a big fish, she took
a few spills, but she learned real good and is a veteran now,and will try
to battle anything, teaching was sometimes more fun than fishing.;) Kirk

That was a skit on TV with Gilda Radder(sp) playing an old lady in the park, and some one playing an old man, and he offered her a walnetto (sp) some candy and she would hit him with her hand bag.

Thanks again Sharon, I looked all over for that. Well, everywhere but where I should have. We've got a bunch of Buffalo Fish in the lower Hennipin Canal.
With the gas prices the way they are I imagine that I'll be spending the majority of my time within walking or biking distance from home rather than running all over the place doing what I worked my entire life to earn.
I wouldn't imagine that the Buffs will mind a recipie designed for thier kin the Carp. lol Mike

Put some cornmeal and molasses in it that works for buffalo.

Howdy. Small carp will hit anything. Trying to consistantly catch big carp, over 30 pounds, takes a little more prep time. Sam.
