I'm just wondering, what are some good Largemouth Bass fishing areas withing say, a half hour drive of the Quad Cities? I don't have a boat, so yeah. Prospect is alright, but I want to catch some REAL bass. Maybe some spots on the river accessible by foot? Is Potter's Lake (Lake Potter/Sunset Marina) in Rock Island any good? What about West Lake?(never been there) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. :D

Ever been to Snake Den Hollow near Victoria Illinois??? It's about a 50 to 55min drive from Moline, and has numerous lakes. If you PM me your e-mail, I'll try to send you a map of the site (PDF file). I go for gills, crappie, and channels. There are also small mouth, large mouth, musky, walleye, and lake trout depending on the lake you are fishing in.

I forgot to mention the Hennipin Cannal. There are plenty of spots to fish it, from Atkinson IL to the Mississippi River (Day use areas). We have caught Bass mostly around the old locks on spinners, and plastic worms.
Or, Lake Story in Galesburg, and don't forget Loud Thunder. Also, try the Silvin Slough west of the MARK, behind what used to be the Bull Pen bar in Rock Island. There is a road that leads down to a parking area, and a foot path. DO NOT FISH THERE AFTER DARK ALONE!!!!! (Just my opinion)

I've been to the Sylvan Slough, never guessed there was bass there! Thanks! Yeah, it's a bad part of town, not a good place to be past dark.. I'll have to remember that, Lake Story and Snake Den Hollow. Hennepin Canal, I know where that's at, I'll have to give it a try!
Thanks Rainman!
