Have re-orged our help area on the front page, if you have questions bout photos resizing or posting them just look to the help area on the main page of the forum
The help area is broken down into 3 sub forums for pictures, computer help
and for forum features help
Just post your questions in the areas that you have questions about and
we can all help each other out

I would like to thank each and every member of this great family for "being there" for each other, not only to help each other out, but especially for the courtesy and consideration shown for each other in every post you make on this board
IMO that is what really sets this family apart from everywhere else I have
ever seen

It is an honor to be a member of Schoe's staff working with this great
group here

Keep on posting!

OK here's one for you Sharon.....I have a photobucket account and I would like to be able to post it without it being an "attachment"?? Do I just copy and Paste the "URL Code" into the post or what?? Thanks!!-Taylor

Sharon
04-10-2007, 05:50 PM
heres your answer...
go to photobucket
under the picture you want, are 3 options
pick the last option that says IMG.. that is the host URL to post pics directly into a post.
Just right click til it highlights, hit copy, then when you get to your post.. click paste.

**Side note** To help keep the cost of bandwidth down, it would be considerate to use the attachment setting here. Thanks :)

When I'm usin' Photobucket................it ask if I wanna use "url" or "img" (or that other thing) what's the difference in the way they work and which is better to use for this site.
Right now I use the "url" when I'm transferrin' pics to this site (WIF). But, I did notice that when I try to delete a picture from the Photobucket site, it takes it offin' the WIF site also.... Can ya 'splain this to me....????
And is there a faster site or program that I can use.

Sharon
04-12-2007, 06:25 PM
use the URL when using the Attachment button here to get the thumbnails, it uses less bandwidth and is cheaper for the site.
Use IMG when you want to paste a picture into the post without using the Attachement button. Uses more bandwidth though.

The reason you lose the pic off WIF is because you deleted it from your storage area. What you are actually doing is, inviting people to your photobucket to see that one picture. If theres no picture in photobucket, it cant be shared here. Photobucket is nothing more than a storage area, if theres nothing stored, nobody can see it.
Clear as mud to ya? :p

That Photobucket is slooooooooow when it comes to uploadin' pictures...

Timotha7
04-12-2007, 07:18 PM
Think the speed of the photobucket depends on your connection

I like to use the "publish to web" feature on photobucket, you just click
pics then hit "publish to web" on your computer and if you have the little
photobucket plugin loaded it will publish them to photobucket that way
lot faster than uploading through the site most times I have found

Sharon
04-12-2007, 07:28 PM
I use the thumbnails and just click browse and get pics out of my pictures or my documents... seems easier to me, faster too... then again, Im on cable.. dial up would take longer no matter what you tried.

Soupy_1us
04-12-2007, 07:32 PM
Well, I don't know how much faster my connection can get.... I got one of them Satil-lite thingys out there on a tree.... Says that I'm "Faster Than A Speedin' Bullet" now. Hell, I can hear them aire-o-planes talkin' when they fly over my house .
Reckon I'll just have to play with it s'more. You know I ain't got all this stuff figured out yet.

Soupy_1us
04-12-2007, 07:35 PM
When I use the "thumbnail" thingy.. I have to resize all my pictures before I down load them to the site... and to me that's a waste of time. (But, some people on here think that's all I do any-how... (Waste Time and good air.)

Sharon
04-12-2007, 08:31 PM
What paper clip thing? Just hit attachments... then you can

A. Use the browse to find a picture in your computer, then click upload

B. Copy and paste a URL from photobucket, and then click upload.

I dont know why youre having so many problems..
Maybe you forgot to tell it to upload? ya lost me... course thats easy to do these days... but Im also, Cornfused now too.

When I click on "POST REPLY" there's a little paper clip above the next window that opens up. I click on that and I can add attachments.
And on this window I'm in now... "Quick Reply" there's a small picture of some mountains that I can click on and add pictures to my outgoing message...Nuttin' to be confused about , all ya gotta do is read.

Oh I can read, you just confused me in how ya said it.. :p yep you can use the Mtn thing, but I was telling you the easiest way. If youre using your IMG from photobucket you dont have to use the mtn.

Sharon
04-24-2007, 08:31 PM
testing... I think I see your problem
at the very front of the URL, it says http/ 2times,, I took out the first one and it works... cant have HTTP in there twice.

Sharon
04-24-2007, 08:35 PM
testing again, yep thats what it was.. somehow you have two HTTP:// in front... get rid of the first set and youre good to go ;)

Soupy_1us
04-24-2007, 09:14 PM
I see what you're saying about the HTTP:// being there twice but, I have taken in out and it still trys to post them twice?????
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p115/Soupy_1us/IMG_13151.jpg I have reset my computer back to last week and I am still getting a different window that opens when I click on the "Insert Image" icon but, it's working now... I will run test for bugs on my computer when I sign off tonight....Just to make sure somebody ain't tried to screw with me .... You know how them Ole Bikers on them other sites can be.

Sharon
04-24-2007, 09:18 PM
Ok, well it looks like you've got it now... just double check each time.. good luck!

Sharon
04-29-2007, 08:28 PM
Just an update.... this area doesnt have to be used for questions, it is also meant to be used to practice inserting pictures either with the managment key in the posting area which is below the post box, or to try and insert a picture with your photobucket. Dont worry if this thread gets filled with odd pictures of different things, thats what its meant for. When it gets too long, I will have Tim clean it out. So if you arent sure how to post a picture, heres the spot for you to practice and good luck! :D

Looks like you gots it

as a tip for Ifranview
On those 8mp type photos, I have found the best bet is to size them around 575/431 an run the quality at round 80% and you get a real nice pic at a good size

Sharon
05-06-2007, 05:59 PM
Yep, I took the large 8mp originally sent and used that for practice.. used the slide bar like you said to either 75 or 80... and looks fine to me.. guess you can teach an old dog new tricks :p
If thats all it takes is using the slide bar, this should be a piece of cake, thanks ;)

Sharon
06-12-2007, 08:16 PM
Are these saved on your computer somewhere? I know Ive seen these pictures in your post, are you saying the pictures in your post turned this color? Or the ones you saved turned this way? I would think once they are posted here they would stay the same.
Is anything else distorted in color? Could be a Video card... then again, not really sure, this is strange.. :confused0024:

Sharon
06-12-2007, 08:22 PM
Just checked, all your pics in your other posts are fine, I believe its your video card. Easy enough to replace if thats the problem.

Timotha7
06-12-2007, 08:54 PM
If I might make a suggestion, I would think about perhaps pulling some of your other photos you have on your computer an posting them to see if it everything you are putting up is turning that funky red or if it is just those
photos
could be something weird with the files themselves that is causing this to happen

Post some other saved photos on here an see what happens

Illinoisgiller

Sharon

I'm not sure what a graphics accelerator is but sounds like a picture of a gas pedal. :confused0024: Mike

I can't imagine where I could have gotten a computer virus. or at least I don't want to talk about it on here. :evilgrin0039::evilgrin0039: mike

Sharon
06-13-2007, 05:18 PM
viruses can sneak in where you least expect them... but we wont talk about that, maybe it is the video card like I first said and thats easy enough to replace. :party0011: Good luck!!

Timotha7
06-13-2007, 06:08 PM
Keep us posted Mike, knowing how it is fixed is good knowledge to have on hand
What throws me is that you can post 3 pics an one is good an the other is
flakey, but then again, if the card is "goingbad" might be intermitent, good to get it fixed now before it flakes out on you totally

Illinoisgiller

Timotha7
06-26-2007, 03:25 PM

They come with AMD don't they??
I took AMD instead of INTEL when I "built" this HP I got, an could not be
happier with it

Tim, I wouldn't have a clue what AMD is. Ran it on Google and appears to be the processor, but I'll ask. Mike

Sharon- We got a new Acer computer a while back. We are running Windows Vista.
With the old system, I could right click on an image and select resize. This system doesn't allow this option. :confused0024:
We downloaded Ifranview but cannot find any resize option on it either. We can paint it and seen a place to airbrush it ,but can't find re-size.

I guess my question is- Should I pitch this thing out the back door or the front? :evilgrin0025:
Might just have to go back to pen and pencil. lol Mike

Sharon
08-08-2007, 05:12 PM
Sorry Mike I dont know anything about Vista. I refuse to get it just yet because of its infancy.. too many things can go wrong.. once the bugs are fixed maybe Ill upgrade.
On infranview, I just do what Timotha told me to.. select a picture from my file (click the folder on top left) then click 'save as' under file.. it opens a slide bar to the right to get the right size photo, just like you did with your other pics we were having a problem with.

Timotha7

If you want you can pm me your phone number an I will give you call an help you get Ifranview installed an then walk you through using it
They got a fairly new updated program out that really has some nice features and it is very easy to use

I will also check on the windows vista an see if there are any of the power toys available for it like the one you were using in XP
that was a seperate download you had on the XP might be one available for the Vista

Perhaps if you pressed the whickerbill button couple times and tuned up

Once you have Irfanview loaded... first open it (Irfanview)... then go to the picture (usually in 'my pictures')... select the picture you want Irfanview to open... once the picture is open in Irfanview... select 'image' (from the bar at the top of the page)... a drop down will open... move your curser down the list to 'resize/resample... the present size will be shown in pixels... you can resize in that format, centimeters or inches... I usually just use pixels...type in the size you want the width of the pic... the ratio will adjust automatically for height.... (usually 500 or 600 pixels width is as big as most forums will allow)... then save as back to picture file as a jpeg or other extension that forums commonly accept...

Then in WIF... go to your manage attatchments field ...browse, open, upload and post.

It's not hard once you get the hang of it. Irfanview will also let you crop, change file extensions and several other great features once you learn your way around in there.

Total of the 2 attachments you have up there is more like 160 kb one is 90 an the other
is 70

I think perhaps the dimensions on the pics are too big to let you post them??

We can go over the picture posting at the Mighty Muddy,

Tim, No error, I guess my son done something with the Ifanview. It is asking if I want to open an unsecure site. ??:confused0024::confused0024: I don't allow that but will have it checked out.
I just love this advanced technoligy. There are lots more things I can't do with this new computer than I couldn't do with the old system. :party0011::party0011::party0011: Pays to have the latest and greatest----for some. I can still make pictures, I kept my paper and crayons. lol Mike

LOL Mike

Not sure why the IFranview would be asking you if you want to open an unsecure site when you are taking pictures off your computer??

Do you have Windows Vista now or something like that??
Don't know if Ifranview has set their program up to operate on vista if you do
I can check into it though
Kinda weird error to be getting on imaging software like that

No, its private and only you can see them. Thats how photobucket is as well. You can post a link to JUST that picture, but being private keeps your other pics private so that no one can get to the rest of pics in your gallery or photobucket.

If you want the thumbnail you do it when you submit a post. Click the "Go Advanced" button and click on the little Paperclip in the tool bar to upload a file from your computer or URL. When you do it that way, you get the thumbnail.

Happy posting!

Gallery an the attachments will take nice sized pics
If you are gonna put em in line, would be good to keep em in the same size range
that the attachments are set for which would be 640x480 and file size
of under 98kb

I am looking at couple of "auto resizers" that might work here on the forum
so that you can basically post a picture an the board resizes to the proper
dimenions for display, but when you click it it comes up on seperate window
as bigger pic

If it looks like it will work out good, will let everyone know if installed

Hi Sharon-

That was on Saturday. Flooded basement but did get ground level. Been pumping basement, should be done tonight and then cleanup.

Church was destroyed with 4 feet inside-

http://www.whereifish.com/thepond/picture.php?albumid=6&pictureid=24

http://www.whereifish.com/thepond/picture.php?albumid=6&pictureid=23

Just a couple pics of sanctuary, offices, classrooms, fellowship all in same condition. Most of cleanup to bare walls is done. Should be able to start rebuilding/modeling in day or two.

Sharon
06-10-2008, 05:31 PM
that truly is a shame..... but with a strong fellowship nothing is impossible and I bet it will look good as new in no time. Hang tight and continued prayers that everything works out up there.

See above from AJ

Also, when you are talking size limits you are talking about both dimension and also
the file size itself

If you are trying to post something that is BMP type file it can be very small dimension
and still be a very large file in terms of the size of the file in bytes
