Well, we just pulled in today from Arkansas and what a great time we had. We visited with our good friends Mike and Michelle Fowler and got to go fishing every single day we were there. Sunday morning we were invited to Mike Wilson's home and enjoyed a huge country breakfast. Every day, twice a day, we ran Mike's trotlines and limblines and every day we caught fish. On Tuesday, Richard Mayes took Mike and me Jug fishing and we caught a good mess of Whites and Blues and had a ton of fun on the water. On Wednesday, we had an Arkansas River grand slam, catching White Cats, Channel Cats, Blue Cats and a Flathead. Thanks Mike and Michelle for your warm hospitality. Thank's Mike Wilson for inviting us into your home and feeding us (and also for cleaning all those catfish)....we owe you one. Thank's Richard for taking us out and showing me a whole new, relaxing way to catfish. Nancy and I were sad to have to leave and can't wait to get back up there. Here are a few fishing pictures from the trip. I will post some more when I get them developed....Ray

Mike Fowler introduced me to Richard Mayes, one of his close friend's and now, a good friend of mine. He introduced me to jug fishing with a twist. Instead of jugs or bottles, he uses cut sections of a kid's swimming noodle as floats. He rigs them to where, when a catfish hit's....it causes the noodle float to stand up straight in the river and take off across the surface. Chasing them down with the boat can be alot of fun. We fished an area of the river behind a rock jetty that was about 3/4 mile long and 1/4 mile wide. It was a big flat sand bar....5 to 8 feet deep and covered with fresh water mussels. We put out 20 noodles and had a great time chasing them down when a fish got on. It was an experience I won't soon forget and I learned alot. Thanks again Richard....Ray

Ray: We use "Florescent" yellows and orange.... Works real good in muddy waters.
Up here we gotta make sure we put our names and addresses on them so the water patrol (game wardens) can check 'em out ..... I think we can use up to 25 at one time. We drop ours up river and then we run down river about three miles and fish 'til they get to us.... The ones that don't make it down there , we go huntin' for.

Aah, Aah, Aah, Soupy, There you go bad mouthin those scrumptious Oysters. I don't mind anyone not liking anything after they have tried it but so far I've not seen you even try to slide one down. We will work on that.

Speaking of which, I still have about 25 lbs. of Oysters still on ice that I have to pop today and enjoy. I haven't had to buy any ice since I got home a week ago as the weather has been plenty cold here.

Yes "T" did prepare the wild pig leg, and a fine job he did at that. That was the only the second time I have eaten wild Hog and actually I would rather have that than domestic Pig. Schoe

If you get one of them oysters down me, I'd better be past-out ! I still think anybody that eats them things like y'all do has got to be "Sick" !

'possum would taste better to me.
