Well let me start by sayin' that I had a brainstorm/fart by going up to stay with one of my buddies that only lives 20 mins. away from lake Harris. I live 1 1/2 hours away. Figured I could sleep in a little. Yep, we was late gettin' to the ramp. Well me and Ol' Bill pre-fished this lake several times and found some nice lookin' spots. We had us a game plan. We started off in some pads that were in 4 foot of water. Nothin' yet. Movin' down that bank we ran into a spot that had pads, docks and grass. Bingo. we got a keeper and 3 shorties off of a chartruese/blue back LuckyCraft. Oh' I forgot about that. I had to let Bill use one of my crankbaits because he lost his catchin' gars. That would have been funny, if we weren't at a tourney. Anyway, we both had the same crankbait on and poor Ol' Bill couldn't catch a keeper to save his life. We moved to a shoreline that had submerged grass about 4 foot infront of visible grass. I got 1 more keeper and bill got 1 more shorty. Bill still givin' the good fight. We fished around some floatin' docks, no good. We decided (it was getting critical time) to move back to the spot were we crankbaited erlier. No go. Well, now it was getting bad. I had my buddy, his girl and my brother and nephew gonna be at the weigh-in, so I had to make a good show. We looked over at an island with some shade (it was HOT) and decided to flip a little. Good call. About 10 mins. into flippin' usin' a green pumpkin craw, with a glass rattle, Igot another keeper. Bill still workin' on one. 100 yards, 3 lb'er. Bill gettin' mad. Another 100 yards, another keeper. Bill was happy that it was over. We had 5 in the boat, Nothin' huge but 5 will work. We got 15 mins. to get back to the ramp. We had 8.56 lbs in the bag and the big fish caught weighed 8.55 lbs. Aint that somethin'. Oh well, I had a blast and we had a good show. Most of the guys didn't catch anything, so I don't feel bad. Lake Istokpoga next.

May 12th. Neither one of us has ever been to lake Istokpoga, so it should be a good time. I heard they found a 22 foot gator out there that died eatin' a deer.

Yeh, we faught the wind all day. Until it got so hot that wind would have been welcomed...lol. The fish that I caught flippin' were in 1 to 2 foot of water and about 1 foot back in the grass line. I don't know what the grass lines look like up that way but they can be 20 foot from the bank and thick all the way back to it around here. It can be like findin' a needle in a hay stack sometimes.

lake were fishin aint like that, purty much sharp drops all over. weeds come out bout 10 ft deep, most of the time means 10 ft from shore tops.definate weededges though.water temp was only 44,fish dont never see that down there ill bet lol

Water temp. started at 69.5 at sunrise and was 71 by 2:30. The only lakes that have drop off's around this area are phoshate (Bill Dance) pits. All the other lakes are averaging between 2 to 8 foot. Water is much needed around here. I heard Okichobee was about 2 foot deep all the way across.

I couldn't even imagine goin' outside during a blizard, much less fishin' in one. I have fished during a hurricane though. Best fishin' I ever done.

Amen to that Schoe. I even watched a man revive a big 7lb'er that someone weighed in and wasn't gonna make it. That fish will fight another day.

I'm lookin' forward to the next tourney as well. I know Bill is chompin' at the bit to get to Istokpoga. Me and him are goin' to the Triton dealer this mornin' to trade in his boat. Oh yea, I forgot to tell Ya'll somethin'. When we got to my buddies house Bill was backin' the boat next to the light pole and I noticed somethin' that didn't look right. The motor was bouncin' a little. After further investigation (and a few budwiesers) we found the transum was rotted and brakin' away from the hull. Not good! After some thinkin' (and a few more budwiesers) we decided to redneck it up a little. We cut 2 2x4's to length and placed them ever so gently into position. It worked for the day, but Bill's gonna get himself a brand spankin' new one today.

Gentlemen, I would like to think that I could use but one bait to catch a bass, but that would take almost all the fun out of it. Besides what would I do with all that money I saved from buyin' just nightcrawlers?

I may have another secret weapon on the back burners. It's about 17 1/2 foot long and needs a new transom.
