Just thought i would let the iowans know that the shrooms are coming up. We found a little over a half pound over the lunch hour. Kind of small but will still taste great.

I'm thinking we need a little more humidity, or rain over here in Illinois to get them going. Everyone I've talked to has struck out so far.

Raining here now. Should be headed your way. Will try to get some pics up later.
We had CRAZY hot in March, the shrooms peeped out, the Moma nature slammed the lid. Three weeks of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below normal temps. I think the season is pretty much shut down here. It seldom comes back when this happens. Good luck to all of you!!!

Rained all night, raining right now. I'm stuck at home trying not to pass these body aches, sore throat, and head ache on to anyone at work. Maybe by Friday or Saturday I can go get some shrooms.

It is still raining here but we are going to try at lunch. Hope you get feeling better before someone else finds them all.

Going to my Aunt's on Saturday (6 acres of timber), right now I'm going to raid the back yard for worms. I suppose there should be some after 2.75 inches of rain the last two days.

Went out at lunch today and found a pound and a half. Nice yellows from 2-4 inches tall.

They are up round here too, I got a bunch of greys (13 shrooms in my favorite lil area, you know the kind, bout 1 block area an generally find 10-15 at a time everytime you go out during the season, just right for supper) and they were all bout 4 inches, quite big for greys in my experience, normally find them earlier than yellows an they are bout thumb size normally
Sure ate good
Did not find any yellows at all, almost like the season is just now getting underway, it is cooling off after couple hatter days so they might hang in for a bit longer than normal too as wet as it has been

They seem to just be coming up. And you are right they ate just great. Wife made chops for dinner last night and i had about 1/2 pound of shrooms that i ate with it.
The season is terrible here. The April blizzard shut 'em down. It don't appear that they'll be back this year. My son found about half a cup day before yesterday, some still showed where the top had been frozen. Guess it's wait another year here:mad:
