This was in the news this morning;
Warning Signs About Bacteria Posted Iowa Lakes
DES MOINES (AP) - Signs warning swimmers about high levels of fecal bacteria are being posted at some of Iowa's lakes.
Samples taken this week showed high levels at Clear Lake State Park, Lake Darling near Brighton and Rock Creek Lake near Kellogg.
A fourth beach, at Viking Lake near Stanton, also had a high reading. But officials say no sign will be posted because the area doesn't have a history of bacterial problems.
Eric O'Brien of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says heavy rain probably contributed to the spike in the readings.
