As a catman I almost feel ashamed of my self. Yes it is hard to believe that I actually ate my bait. I am holding Giller personally responsible for my actions. If it wasn't for him showing me how to clean those little buggers so easily I would have never done it. All I can say for my self is man those were tasty. Gonna find it kinda hard to tease ya now Giller about eating them. :icon_biggrin:

Looks real good Jason!
Gills are really good eating an most times if you work at it a bit they are
catchable
My fishing Buddy JJ is raring to get out an do some serious fishing
an Gills are tops for grands an little ones in general

Now you are beginning to understand. lol Just a few meals of those tasty morsels and you will be sorting your bait. Skinny gills are for bait. Nice plump ones are for supper. :evilgrin0039:
Not to start controversy--- but--- ask the family which they prefer to eat. lol lol

Jason, congrats, you have crossed the threshold from being a dyed in the wool Catfishermen to now pursuing one of the finest eating fish, bar none in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong as I still like to pursue the Cats and make them excellent table fare along with most other species. But I think everyone has their favorites. Schoe

You guys are right about them being excellent table fare. If it wasn't for having to repair a hole in the keel of my boat I would be out chasing them again tonight. Seems that most of the big ones aren't hitting as good as they was a week ago. I think they are spawning here, small females are loaded with eggs. It still almost brought a tear to my eye taking such great food from the mouths of starving flatheads. But since I can't seem to find mr. whiskers here lately I guess it wouldn't hurt to fry up a few more gills. :icon_biggrin:

WOAH!! Not trying to convert anyone here. If the cats aren't interested for a bit a guy might as well have a little fun chasing a few "baiters"
Just hope the netters don't find out about how good some bait is for eating. They would get the laws changed in a hurry. :confused0068:

Well I can't stand all this talk about Pan Fishing without going myself. I'm off next Thurs. Giller, ya want to give it a try? I know a great place above yhe Hampton Dam on the Iowa side we could more than likely get a mess of Crappie and some Gills. There's a boat ramp close by also.
We will talk. Schoe
