I finally got the opportunity to give an Acadia rod a short test on Gills at West Lake, near Davenport and again today at City Lake at Monmouth, IL.
The rod is a 6' rather stiff action rod coupled with the ES 100 reel.
The rod is super sensitive, the reel is smooth beyond belief with great finish. I spooled it with 8lb.(3lb. dia.) Blaze Green Fireline. With this line, reel , rod, combo it casts like a slingshot.
I would recommend this rod for Bass ,walleyes or channel cat. Tight cover along a smallmouth stream would make one appreciate this rod in a hurry. The through the handle blank lets one feel every small touch.
The case is VERY high quality. I wouldn't expect to see any better for rods costing many hundreds .
BUT ,for fishing the way I do, I need a rod less stiff in the 7' to 8 1/2' range. This one is not a gilling rod .
A rod of this high quality could use another eye fitted on it also.
Although I haven't seen the F series yet I would imagine that most fishermen in this area would go with the F series which are also very high quality and for sure priced RIGHT
The reel is smooth as silk with a pretty wood handle usually reserved for the very highest end reels. I am perfectly satisfied with the softer materials available today. It was just a bit heavy for this featherweight little rod.
I'm hoping there is a 7'to 8' light action rod with-- say-- 11 matched guides in the same high quality coming in the near future :confused0024:. Thanks to Schoe and WIF for the chance to test this little jewel.:icon_cool: Mike
