This is a several thousand acre lake that starts near Tallassee and ends
not to far from Bristol. We took a road trip yesterday to locate some ramps
and to talk to some of the local fishermen about the lake, according to
them the lake is loaded with black crappie that run over 2 lb,and has a
great population of large catfish. With the water being some what low i
could see a lot of stick ups and tree stumps and good structure out in
the deeper water, the lake kinda reminded me of Turkey Creek Lake on
down south only a lot bigger,it is about a 1 hour drive from where i live.
Has anyone in north florida ever tried this great looking body of water?
Almost forgot, did talk to 1 local that runs trot lines on this lake and said
most nights he will get 300 to 400 lb a night, had 1 night that went 435
lbs.I belive we will hit it 1 night next week, with a report to follow. Kirk

When I was younger we camped and fished there. Have a cousin and an uncle that still fish there regularly now. Catch some nice bream there too. There is an old limestone pit that flooded when the lake backed up.
ANd you can catch bream on a flyrod at night there too.......... what a rush!

Also found out that it has Stripers up to 25 lb and White Bass, and from
what i read there are some Flat Heads there also.
Schoe,it is about 45 mile from Blountstown on Hwy 20,there are 5 ramps
on our side. The best fishing is said to be when the water temp is between
60 to 80 degrees,we can hit it when you come down this winter. Kirk
