Illinoisgiller

I and the wife slipped off to Lake Kehoma in south Iowa yesterday. I used the float tube and she stayed on the dock where she is comfortable. I had a rough time finding the gils even with the help of my Eagle 320C finder. I finally kicked clear across the lake to a broad point. Found the gills hiding in 17' of water and suspended anywhere from 4' to 7' deep. I got a nice mess of them and kicked back to find the wife with a decent channel cat and a big red ear.
When I cleaned the fish there was only soft runny eggs There was no indication that they were ready to drop any for the full moon this time.
We then left for a small county Lake White Oak. I got in the tube again and found the gills out near the center and far side in 7 to 17 ft. of water. Again they were suspended at all depths. Some were schooled up 5 or 6 together. Most had good size with a few that were absolute "braggers":confused0068:lol The wife got some nice ones also working the weed edges near a dock.
On the lone trip home we concluded that this was good as it gets for a day trip, I took a few pics. but will post later when I get more comfortable with this new computer. Mike
