finally got a chance ta test the 6ft light action rod an 100 series reel yesterday.......bout the only thing i hooked worthwhile fer testin purposes was an asian carp tween 20-25lbs.snagged it in the tail lol.

the reel: the instant anti reverse is "instant" no backing up in the slightest.casts extremely well with small braided line.the rotors well balanced also , i felt no wobble in retrieve.the carp made 3 screaming runs, bout takin all the braided line each time an the drag worked perfectly each time with no sticking or hesitation. extremely smooth drag!

the rod: i absolutely hate 2 piece rods because of the loss of sensitivity from the ferrule but this rod suprised me.actually was a lil more sensitive than the 1 piece rods i own. (they aint cheap ones iether) first impression was it couldve used a lil more backbone for the hooksets but changed my mind when i hooked that carp. the fight lasted a good 20 minutes fore the hook pulled at the boat an for most of that the rod was doubled from right above the reel on out. never heard a sound caused by stress at all. i did put a lot more pressure on this rod trying to land this fish than normall and still it held up beautifully

bein a skeptic i was completely suprised by the quality of this rod/ reel combo and recommend it to anyone lookin to buy!!!!!!!!!!!! in my opinoin you absolutely will not find better quality fer your money

I was thinking that if that combo got in your hands it would get the workout it deserved. It sounds as though it worked out well for you.
You might want to consider the 702 model. I handled it and it is a much stiffer action than yours, and is a 7' one. Thanks again for the report. Mike

Great report Joe
After the "feel" I get for the ones I bought I figured that you would be
impressed
What I think is most impressive is that the rod an reel are both "light"
in and they are standing up to some serious pulling
I know the reels are about as smooth as anything I have tried (have not fished but sure can cast a rubber plug down the street bout a country mile!
With a very very smooth retrieve)

Going out first part of next week now that I got this cold shook off

actually got ta use the combo on somethin it was designed ta catch lol.drifted the river fer smallies.rod handles lighter baits well,an sensitivity is great . id recommend a lil heavier rod fer doin this all the time, had 1 run a circle round the boat on me lol. all in all the combo was all a guy could ask for,an then some fer the price.kept 3 ,15 1/2 -16 inchers for breakfast, biggest on the trip was jus a shade under 18 inches.

I like it when they run circles around the boat!\
