4th of July Fishin' with Soupy

Well, I guess you've all heard of them jumpin' carp that we have on the Ohio River and other rivers,creeks and streams .. These fish have been known to jump in your boat while you least expect it... And they did...
The first picture is one around 15 lbs.... Pic two is me trying to get him back into the water and the third Pic is another one that got us before I could get the first one back into the water and the fourth pic is Mrs Soupy trying to climb over my console trying to get away from the dang things as they jump in our boat...Some people call these Asian Carp and Big Heads..... You should have heard what Mrs. Soupy re-named 'em.:confused0068:

Saw some recent news footage where a fair sized one of those hit a reporter in the chest. I don't think there was serious injury but the boat was moving at a pretty good clip and it was appearant that the fish hit him pretty hard.

Careful Soupy, wouldn't want you 'done in' by a fish.

The bigger carp work great for cut bait, lots of blood.... The smaller ones,2 to 8 inches, works perfect for blues and channels... Just mash their heads and stick a hook in 'em...
I run a home made needle through the mouth and out the tail ... Thread a treble hook to the mouth ( with a leader tie to it that comes out through the tail),mash their heads and pitch 'em. Don't forget to tie it to your line, I use a #1 snap swivel.......Them big ole blues just love 'em ( when gofish ain't feedin' them blues up there where he lives.....reckon y'all heard that story... about gofish can't catch no big 'uns , he just feeds 'em)

Now comes the interesting part.... Most of you guys know about my boat (The RedNeck Yacht) well, guess what.....

Now this guy sees us and we are down stream from him......For some reason he wants to come over to see what my boat looks like....All he had to do was look at his own boat and he'd know what my boat would look like....
'member now I said he was "up Stream" from us....the current is comin' to our face....and I found out later that this was just his second time on the water in that boat.....These next two pictures says it all................................

He lost her...got her side ways and the current a pushin' him.....He got what you would say broad-sided and hit us right in the trollin' motor..... ( it's mounted o n the front on my boat)
Now you see why I got some good pictures of my feet and the bottom of my boat.....
That feller got tangled up in everything, ... anchor rope at least 5 fishin' poles.. Poor ole Lyndell couldn't do nuttin' but laugh, I had my camera a clickin' in one hand and three fishin' poles in the other......

Well, we finally got them guys run off and settled down to do some fishin'....We were still gigglin' over that little mishap we had with the other boat that look just like mine, funny part of that was the guy that owned the other boat never did see my boat... He got too busy tryin' to say he was sorry and all that he forgot to look at my boat.
Back to fishin' now....Got lines re-baited and set out and then it happened...... I caught it !
Yep shore 'nuff I caught one.... Big as day, had it in my hand and then I had to say it...
What's that noise that a fiddler catfish makes when ya get him in the boat.... Kinda like a Grrrgrrgrr sound.... Well, I got one that said Grrrniff,grrrniff,grrrrniff cause of he was HairLipped.....!!!!

Hey Lyndell what's a Hairlipped Catfish say? Grrrniff,grrniff... Well, that done it... For some strange reason Ole Lyndell thought that was funny... He got to laughin' so hard I thought he was gonna wet his pants....
Needless to say that our day of fishin' went down hill from here.....
Even after we got settled down again and things got real still, I could hear Lyndell up in the front of the boat real quiet like sayin' grrrrniff,grrrniff....then he'd say something like , Soupy, you are one crazy dude... I don't know why he'd say that about me....
Well, the fish weren't bitin' real good but, you know that I had to catch one more before we headed home.... Well Folks.... I DID !

LMAO Soupy now that is a funny story,to bad the guy didnt hang around
long enough to get his name,He might coulda got Rookie of the Year and
you could have sent him i of them medals.
P&S Sure hope ole LyndoubleL Dont go makin them sounds down where
he works them boys may wonder what got in the hole with em.:icon_razz:
