biggest white catfish

my name is harry i caught a 38 lbs 11 oz white catfish
in the potomac river in fort washington marina on march 31 2007
caught it on white sucker its was big size was 42 1/2 long man it was a

Welcome to WIF Harry,that White Cat was a great catch,I see that you
enjoy fishing at night for cats,thats my favorite time to do it,even tho
the river is way low and its hotter than hello (104) we are going to give
it a try Friday night,and maybe Sat night ???Looked at our tackle yesterday
thinking that we were good to go WRONG,Last trip was to KY Lake rigged
for medium size fish 20lb line,now busier than a 1 armed paper hanger
rerigging for the big Flats in the river,probably will catch them Foolers,
Gar thats supposed to be Cats. Keep us informed on how your fishing

What makes you think that I'm gonna tell this newbie about you throwin' back a state record gar 'cause it was a gar.....Or , what need would there be for me to tell him that it was worth about 3 grand for you too also... I wouldn't tell any new members about this 'til I get to know them a little better.

Miles as I told the guy at the shop your fish was not a white cat. I guide the potomac and what you had was a bluecat. They will come out of their some all white, most have the blue cat look and some even all black. I saw the photo of the fish and it is a blue cats still a nice catch but a blue sorry.
The world record white cat is only 21 lbs.

Here is a photo of one of the white blues from this season. Most of the white cats we catch here will be black on the with a milky white belly.

Yep. A 38lb white cat would be freakin' HUGE! The Va state record for a white is only 7 lbs 6 oz.

ya i see it alot around here people working at tackle shop only know its a catfish. Got a shop now showing a photo of a flathaed and calling it a bullhead 29" long o ya same shop that told harry he had a white cat when it was a blue.:confused0024:

Tim, that's Ok. There is a guy who shall remain nameless, but has a stink bait that is very, very popular he named after himself, then sold off to someone else to make. At siminars, he talks about Mississippi whites in Oklahoma. NO SUCH THING. Simply blues that have lost their hue for whatever reason.

I hear the same thing about gills pretty often when showing a picture of Red Ear or Hybrids. But---However you look at it ,it is a common mistake and Harry got a mighty nice cat there.:confused0068::party0045::party0045::party00 45:. Congradulations, Harry

hay tony i have a friend in oklahoma and he said there were some real nice blues in ten killer lake i never have fished there yet but i sure would like to get up there and try to get some as for whites there small here where i fish around here ;;;maurice
