I have friends that use Okuma also. They seem to like theem and I have heard no complaints.
I have completly switched my spinning reels to Shimano Symetre and Sedona. Both are super smooth and I haven't had a problem with them yet.
I agree with Mutt that Shimanos are the reel to compare others to
The new Acadia reels are equally as good, and may have a slightly faster anti backlash setup. When you stop reeling an Acadia reel there is absolutely not a bit of hesitation on hookset.
My Shimanos are better than I need for what I do. :confused0024:Mike

Capt. I need to pay more attention to the subject matter. My experiance , and that of my friends has been with spinning reels only.
I still wouldn't be afraid of that combo based on Okuma's reputation.
The reel industry has become so competive that it taakes good products to stay in the running.
I've given up on Daiwa just because they come out with a huge selection of cheap reels, and I'm too lazy to do the research to find out which ones are worth getting.
One thing I have learned over the past years is to pay no attention to the number of bearings. 10 cheap fall apart bearings don't compare with 3 good ones. lol Mike

capt.....ive got the cl450 classic i won here from the ky drawing.so far its performed just as good as my ambasseduer 7000s.only exception is the bait click tension, too much current an i have to back the drag way off,an leave the reel in gear.fish makes a run jus pick up the rod an tighten it back down fore settin the hook....used ta that though fer flathead cause my ol pfluegers were like that lol.got it spooled with 50lb mono an still cast a country mile.dont tell soupy but i think its a better reel than that big penn i got.

Used it last night and for the money it is hard to beat, the only thing
i found was where they put the tension adjustment, kinda hard to get to
with big fingers,I hate to say it but other than the tension adjustment
it is bout as good as my 7000,the bait alert is outstanding it would wake
the dead, only caught 1 fish on it while fishing for Flats along comes a
real nice Largmouth and sucked up my blue gill, did hook 1 flat and was
workin him hard gettin him headed to the boat, till he decided he had
played the game long enough and the battle was on an out comes the hook.
I feel like it was a fair test of this product and would give it 7 of 10 points.
PS The flathead i hooked bout drove me over the edge,he mouthed that
bait a good 45 min got me to the point of singin to my self to keep from
gettin jerk silly.:confused0068: Kirk

GoFish sounds like you stepped in some dodo on that one,I rated it a
7 out of 10 against my Penn, that means they got some improvements
to make,But for $89.95 for the combo,it is hard to beat. Kirk
