Yesterday, I was taking my wife over to Appalatchacola for breakfast when we were just getting into town we heard and felt a loud vibration so I pulled into a gas station to see what was happening. My rear passenger tire was as flat as it could be. I went inside and asked the clerk if there was any place in town to get a tire fixed and changed and she said nowhere on the weekend that she knew of. So back outside I went to start changing the tire.
A gentleman came walking up to me and looked the situation over and said that he worked at the tire shop in town and would fix mine if I could wait until he was done filling the tanks at the station. So I went inside and purchased a can of Fix a Flat and put that in and had to ease across the street to get air at another station as the place I was at had there air hose stolen.
The fellow had told me where the shop was and go there and wait for him before the air all leaked out again. We hadn't been there when his big tanker truck came pulling in the lot. He pulled the tire off and we looked at the damage and it looked like a large brass washer was embedded itself in the tread. I thought that tire was shot, but, when he pulled it out it turned out to be a key with the small end stuck in the tire which he quickly put a plug in and it was fixed.
When I asked what I owed him he said nothing and I was shocked. Where I live it would have been at minimum been $30.00 to $40.00. Seeing he wasn't going to accept anything I stuck a $20.00 bill in his shirt pocket and told him how much I really appreciated what he did and to take his wife to lunch. Also I gave him a WIF hat and a hand shake. Schoe
