When out for a weekend or week long fishing trip or just overnight, how do you camp?

Do you pitch a tent, sleep in the truck, pull a trailer, take the motor home, stay in a cabin, sleep on the houseboat, get a motel room?

For me I have pitched a tent but lately got a cabin, one of those cheep primitive kind with an ice box and AC all in one room with 4 cots - or bum a bed in a buddies trailer - Thanks Veets!

What do you do?

I like a tent, prefer my dome tents, easier to move if theres a tree root or such under it, also have an 8x10 cabin tent for longer stays.
It's been awhile since I camped and have been planning on going, just a matter of timing.

Screen,
for me, it varies with distance that has to be traveled from home. Sometimes it just isn't feasible to take the RV. Another main variable is distance between campsite and water (possible tieing boat to bank). It is quite a pain to secure the RV to pull the boat back and forth to a boat ramp. Depending on mood, I may decide after a long day fishing and a couple hours sleep (or cocktails) I may hit the water again at 2:AM. Some days (24 hr. period) I may fish 4 or 5 times. My next favorite is tent camping. Nothing like crawing out of a tent on a cold morning and starting a bon fire after putting coffee on. With the RV, I have my coffee and catch the local news before venturing out...I guess they both have their drawbacks...lol

We've got a dome tent but have been moteling it for the last few years.
I hope to be set up properly for tent camping again this spring. The tenting isn't a problem for me, but I need to be set up much better for the cooking part. It's just too much hassle running off to town for eats. ;)
Hey Gofish is there a tenting spot at Marshall that would be available in the spring? Mike

Catbird, we've found the same. It really depends on the site what we take. We're thinking of adding a camper top to the Dodge and grabbing an old matress for the back.

And, we usually take some form of gas grill, like gofish. There's nothing like fresh fish...

Unfortunetly, someone I love, loves hotels. I would prefer a tent, and a sleeping bag. If we use the tent, then there is the air matress, the battery operated fan.......

Rainman4u2, hotels aren't so bad... If you get one with a sauna or hot tub you can have lots of fun!:D

Do you ever compromise? Stay at a hotel one time, then change out to the tent the next?

Wondering if we have any full time RVer's who would be interested in a part time summer job in exchange for a RV site on the 1700acre Chippewa flowage, Hayward, WI. This would be a job of cabin cleaning for an hourly wage, about 15-20hrs a week. Also about 4-6 hours a week mowing, with a rider and some trimming in exchange for full hook up RV site including electric and boat docking. This site would normaly rent for $1400 plus electric. Great job for a retired couple that likes to fish. Job would run May-mid Oct. You can contact Bill or Linda at bigfish@muskytale.com for more details.
