Who remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot? I do, I remember when he took the oath of office, we were made to watch history in the making. Best thing about TV, if you were lucky enough to have one, no repeats!! :party0011: we had a 9 inch rounded on the sides, squared off at the top black and white TV.... the best entertainment was the 100 gal fish tank. Got to see fish being born.. real live science in the den!

Dear Mutt... you might like an excerpt from a novella me and a partner just finished... I give ANOTHER perspective on the Kennedy assassination. As it is not primarily a political story... I may approach Schoe about posting it here... chapter by chapter like a serial.... member Lum n' Abner :icon_biggrin:

I liked the kennedys, even though they are a mess, I would hope we would still respect the dead. Remember, as far back as George Washington himself, there has been scandal in the white house... Washington fathered an illegitamate child...... but who cares? Its all history now.

I wont go into politics about it but I will say they are a classic example of having money you can get away with anything including murder. thing is a person should push thier views etc down a kids throat like that teacher did there weer a lot of ticked off parents from that day.

OK, with that I agree, no one should force any opinions down anyones throat, but in your earlier post you said they had to listen to it on the radio, which I didnt see anything wrong with that... but if that teacher was pushing their opinions on you, then yes,, its wrong. Ok youre forgiven.. LOL :icon_razz:
just had that happen today with co-worker.. he got tired of me telling him opinions are just that opinions!

Thing is We were in school to learn. not listen to the radio and lets face it most kids aint gonna give a dang about someone getting shot if it aint in thier imediate family. and to force someone to listen to it yes its wrong and to go on saying what a good person he was well thats a opinion and keep it to them 10 year old kids could care less about politics lol.

I still dont understand whats wrong with having a moment of silence in class.. they can pray to what ever god or God they choose, sing in their head, tell themselves a joke for all I care.. I just see nothing wrong with it.. I talk to my classes a lot about stuff from when I was a kid... they listen, they really listen. They cant imagine how on earth you survived without a micro wave, how could you pop popcorn?? LOL how did you add up stuff without the calculater like you said gofish, how come I had to walk so far to get to school, (pulled the 'walked uphill both ways in a blinding snow storm' on them, took a minute but they laughed LOL) So many things they have no clue about and since Im probably the age of some of their grandparents..YIKES! :confused0068: , they think its cool that I talk of the olden days. little brats LOL .. but I think it makes them appreciate what they have, or at least I would hope it does. :confused0024:

Oh man, had a whole big thing typed here, then realized it was way off topic. So Ill just say, if youve got kids or grandkids, talk to them of the good old days, you will be surprised at how much they are NOT bored listening to you.

Back to the origional question:
I was in the 1st grade @ Bouldercrest Elementary School (Dekalb County Georgia). The principal (who was an all american football player while at Auburn University) came on the loudspeaker, and said "teachers and students, the President of the United States has just been assinated, school will close in 30 minutes". On the way to the bus, I say this same "giant of a man" with tears flowing down his cheeks.

I also remember what I was doing and where I was when Martin and Bobby were assinated, and Elvis died.
