Where did you take your last fishing trip and why there? How did you do and would you go back? Would you recomend this trip to others?

Last trip to: Lake Carlyle, Eldon Hazlet state park in southern IL.
Reason: BOC Gathering - Catstock
Fishing: So-So
Go back: Only for a gathering, poor fishing but great camping and nice lake
Recomend: Nice family lake with pool but other lakes south would probably be better fishing

This should be fun because it will tell others of a trip they might want to take - If it was only down the road tell us anyway because we might want to go!!!

All of our trips out of florida are to LAKE BARKLEY in KENTUCKY
And KENTUCKY LAKE,These are 2 of the best lakes you will ever put
a boat on.the fishing is great even on a bad day,and those folks in
KENTUCKY,are among the most friendly people you will ever run into.
You asked would we go back?? Only every chance we get.I am from indiana
retired to florida, and im proud to say that KENTUCKY is my home away
from home.:D

Screen, my favorite road trip is to Wewahitchka Florida, to fish for Flatheads in the Apalachicola and Chipola Rivers. Don Minchew (wewasar), Maurice Sawatis (wewamohawk) and all the other great residents of Wewa, make us feel welcome and will actually try to help you catch some fish while you are there. Any time you arrive at a distant fishing spot, and it feel's like "coming home", you know it's all good!....Ray

Gofish,
I received the package that you sent and it is very much appreciated. I will study the material on the disk after I figure out how to open everything.
The baits look killer, and I will troll with them Mon or Tues when I will go up to the inland waterway by White City Fla. Every one I have talked to about Stripers say this is the best area for them. I have been given landmarks from a couple of the good Ole boys that fish the area a lot so we will give her a try. I will let you know how we do. Thanks again, Schoe

got to mill creek today and had to break 1/2 inch of ice just to launch the boat. almost the whole lake had ice on it. the wind picked up and started breaking it up so we were able to fish. caught a dozen crappie between 10 and 12 inches and thumped the cats real good.we both limited out and then some.(22 all day) had fried catfish for supper

Gofish,
nice mess of fish. I am hitting a hot water outlet on the Ohio River first thing in the morning for skipjacks. If I have any luck, gonna try for some bluecats later in the day.

catbird thanks were going back monday doing nothing but catfishing this time. i think i may have found another school. if the river keeps going down ill hit it one day next week. just got back from newton. first thing this morning as we backed the boat in my partners 2 year old ranger launched itself on dryland. he had ice on his trailer bunks and it slid off the trailer 20 feet from the water. NOT GOOD! no irrepairable damage though mostly cosmetic. we finally got out there and tore the daylights out of the largemouth. had 7 keepers (18" min.)all but one between 6-7 1/4 lbs and caught close to 20 more.my partner had 5 keepers and 10 more besides.gonna try to go there tuesday.

Go fish,
One of my biggest fears when launching a boat by myself is having it slide off like what happened to you guys. It just makes my lower extremities pucker just picturing that happening. Schoe

The skipjacks weren't in so I ended up netting some shad and fished with them. I did mark a lot of fish deep but only had 1 taker. I was using 8/0 circle hooks. He bent the pole halfway to the water and then dropped the bait. Never came back. I did catch 5 white bass around 15" long.

just got back from mill creek a little while ago. ended up with an even 40 crappie(keepers)caught a lot more than that though. lots of little ones today. water temp was 43 to 44 got most of them vertical jigging trees on the edge of the creek channel with blue/white,red/white tubes, swedish pimples and cicadas. did catch a few casting a jig first thing this morning though.another week or so and it oughtta get good.

I fish on the Rock River most of the time. Haven't been outside of this area fishing since I was about 13 years old, back in Racine, WI. Can't wait for pops to get home so we can go out! I'm going through catfish withdrawls..
