Mr. Big, Are you talking about a signed in chat room that is not displayed or an open Forum type?

:sticking my nose in here: lol I'd certainly use a chat room on here, they have some out there that uses java, which is a basic format for chatrooms on the web, or if you'd rather use mIRC or another chat client, I know a site where we could meet to talk, its ran by old online friends of mine.

Alan, we will get one set up on WIF and you will have to invite your friends to join and partisipate. Schoe

If you mean a Chat Room, then yes that would be pretty cool in my opinion.

I might be open to a chat room. But would you have scheduled chats with visitors or a free for all, anyone come join in type?
Google and Yahoo have general chat software that if you have a user id you can log in and invite anyone to join. Kind of like instand messaging.
I've been to a site that has "celeb" type visitors that answer questions from the other chatters. It's interesting, but can get out of hand without a bit of moderation. Just something to think about... Bring in one of the guys/gals from the Outdoor Channel...

Until we get one going on this site, maybe we can use IRC? Is anyone familiar with it?

Annie: (from a previous message I wrote) or if you'd rather use mIRC or another chat client, I know a site where we could meet to talk, its ran by old online friends of mine.
This is IRC, you need a chat client such as mIRC or pirch or ircle if using a macintosh computer, none of them are hard to setup.

I can certainly get a mIRC room setup if other people will use it, I could write up a tutorial on how to set it up? Just want to make sure it would be worth my time though..

Annie,
If you're familiar with downloads and installs on your host, you can sometimes find there are "one click" downloads that install and are up in minutes. If not, you can also find a great many programs that are helpful at Source Forge.net. (http://www.sourceforge.net)
Installing isn't that hard (usually there are tutorials written to go with any of the software found there). Hope this helps get the chat project underway!

At this time I'm not sure about this chat room thing, as I see some at other places get out of hand and stray away from the main purpose of the site. Schoe
