On Nov.4, I and the wife went down to a small lake in south Iowa.
I took the float tube and the wife stayed on the shore as usual. We called a friend (Marty) from the area and he stopped by and fished from his Fish Cat#4 for a bit. Most of the gills and crappie were deep. The deepest water I found was 17 ft but best gilling was at 12'- 14' right on the bottom. If there were deep weeds, the gills were right on top of them. The gills were decent size but the few crappie were smallish.
The water was at 50 degrees. With the light waders my feet got a bit cold but not unbearable by any means.
Marty didn't want to save any, so dumped into my basket. We ended up with 4 1/2 lbs of fillets between the three of us.
Sure was an enjoyable day trip. Mike

While Marty and I were working those gills and crappie with CrappieKeiths T.H.E. Jigs, (they work!!!!)we met some other folks on the water. They had more conventional means for setting on the water. They actually had a boat!!!:icon_cool::icon_cool: lol I took a picture and told them I would post it on the whereifish forum. I didn't get names, but one of them was from right across the river from here in Davenport. Small world.
Hope they didn't give up looking for it while I learned how to get a picture on here. :confused0024::confused0024::confused0024:
The Ifanview was not compatable with this nerdy Windows Vista system.
Thanks a ton to Timotha for finding the simple downsizeing tool.!!! Mike

Thanks a ton for helping to get the word out.
Now that you know they work.....see how long they will hold up to the fish.
WTG about mentioning the site too.
Promoting things that work and are good for fishermen is what it's all about.
Sharing info that helps others get into more fish is something that not every fisherman will do.
