Rick and I decided to go check ice.

We hit 3 different lakes and found the same 2".
So back to the drawing board.We put ice cleats on and pushed the jon boat out.

Once we got out far enough the boat breaks through.
We caught some smaller crappies.

Then we had to get back.What a chore!
We broke through 3 times on the way back.We both got wet up to the knee.
We should have walkable ice by next week.
It sure was an adveture.

now ya definately gotta be my long lost kin or sumtin lol......been known ta do the same thing.....break up enough 1/2 ta 1 inch of ice on a small pond with my boat so the wind will clear me a good spot ta fish lol.......did ya git nuff fish ta eat?

least ya got yer limit even if it was lotsa work.......first ice,hungry unpressured fish......im a lil jealous here lol....:icon_biggrin:

Early ice is the best for drilling some nicer fish.
I'll be hitting Big Sandy next weekend and that's when I'll get into some gorgous slabs.
12"-16"s is normal.
10" gills too.
DOH! Lord give me strength! I'll need asprin for joint pain rearin.
