A little explination 1st.
I have the scale set at 30 foot which mean the dial goes from 0-30 FOW.
On the screen you'll see fish from about 6 o'clock all the way to the left up to the top of the dial. The top right is 0 the top left is the bottom of the lake.
All of the red marks are fish ie...crappies directly below be.
You'll see 2 green mark above the fish. Those are my jig and a small sinker.
Watch as I'll lower the jig into the fish and lift out of them. The crappies will give chase when I lift and then the spring will bounce on the end of my rod.
That's when I rear!!!!!

On this video I'm in different water.
The leading edge or the bottom is located at about 8 'clock on the dial.
I'm not marking any fish, but you'll see the 2 green marks. Those are my jig and sinker.
This video shows how I'll lift fish.

Here's a few more videos now that you know what I'm doing.

I was wondering why every ice fisherman uses a flasher? Don't the other kinds of fishfinders work for ice fishin? I've never used one so I'm just wondering.

That's very astute of you Pegleg!

The answer is simple.Flashers are real time locators. With the other kind you'll have a screen scrolling and you can not fish like we like to fish.
If you watched some of my videos you can see that I'll watch the flasher as I lift the fish in triggering it's strike sense.I can actually see the fish and my bait. I can see how the fish is reacting to what I'm doing too.
This allows me to upsize or downsize my offering. I can tell if I need to speed up or slow down.
I can also tell which species it is ....for the most part by where it comes into the sonar cone, how fast it lift and runs away.
Walleyes and perch hug the bottom. Crappies and gills come in a foot to 3 off of the bottom.
Once you fish with one long enough and expierence the thousands of fish I've caught ,you get to see similarities and therefore you have a pretty good idea at what you are looking at.Not always ,but most often you do.

I think I see what your saying. The regular fishfinders are slow like my computer and the flasher shows a blip on the dial right away. It takes my dial up computer 30 minutes or more to load a video so I usually don't bother. lol

You got it.
I'll drop my hair jig in the fish's face.Let him eyeball it for 2 seconds and then I'll pull it away. I'm saying you can't get me.
Then the fish takes offf after my jig and it inhales it.
Damn,I'll say then I'll set the hook.Opppps who's got who?
Ha!
I just love toying with them.
Wait do ya hear that....?
Listen........!
It sounds,ya it's getting clearer.
Come and get me,come and get me,come and get me.
Dang fish taunting me again.
In the morning they are gonna get theirs!
