Do it after dark..........Mark your jugs with reflective tape.........and your name and address...............Set hooks about 4 to 8 feet... depends on depth of water........Set them out up river....go down river and drink lots of beer. (waiting for them to come to ya) Take Pictures ! Good Luck !

haha that funny soup where i fishin is a small channel you can cast across it with a spinner reel... only maybe 6-8 ft deep and hardly any current, is a dead end pretty much unless it rains...... when you do that what keeps them from ending up on the bank???

what i have been told is find depth and tie 1-2lb weight on bottom with 2 hooks spaced right close to bottom and 3 ft up then jug

Our style of Juggin' is a little different from yours..... We start "up" river, baitin' and tossin' floats out from the boat........Floats have a line tied to it (with a hook on the end of it) , anywheres from 4 foot to 10 foot long... Some people add weights to them to slow the drift down somewhat and others just add a hook and bait and let the river do it's thing.
Around here if you tie 1 or 2 lb weight to it we call them "drop lines" or "trotlines"...
As far as it goes about driftin' to the bank.... Sometimes that's the best place to catch fish after dark...
The idea of a Juggin' line is to cover lots of area with a baited hook. That's our thinkin' anyways. Again. Good Luck and take pictures.

AJ, jugging can be, and is done in several different ways, it just depends who's idea is being used. My first jugs were Styrofoam blocks about 6 " square and then I graduated to Tide plastic soap containers.

We are allowed 50 jugs in Ill. so both of this kind took up a lot of room in the boat and then I saw the ones Catbird (Dale Kirby) made. I think somewhere in the archives there's a diagram on the ones he made which are very efficient, don't take a lot of room, and catch fish as good as any I have seen.

This coming year we plan on doing a series of " How To" Videos that will be available to our members. Jugging, being one of them.

In the meantime I suggest you send Catbird a PM or visit his website at www.fishinbum.com and leave a message. I am sure he will give you a leg up on jug fishing. Schoe

Why are you puttin' rebarb in the pipe?

The re-bar acts like ballest when a fish hits the re-bar it slides down causing the jug to stand up . Schoe

The foam stuffed in the ends keeps the rebar from knocking the caps off over time so be sure and stick a piece in each end.

What kind of fish are you after?.... Around here if a fish hits it "It" will stand up and then go under...
I use the noodles (18")... but, don't put nuttin' inside the pipe... Boy down the road puts a Coat Hanger thru the middle of them to tie to (no pipe).....Everybody has a different ways , I reckon.
The "Tide" soap bottle works just as good too.

Learn something everyday on here......

I usually use the noodle jugs when fishing a lake at night. While periodically checking the jugs (I have to use a floodlight running it across the water...possibly spooking any catfish that are close). Also, you kind of have to pause to see if there is any movement in the jugs so it is even worse. With using the "flagging jugs" I can very well see if one of the jugs has been bothered because it will be standing up. I know to watch this jug a little closer and possibly it will need re-baited. When jugging, I am usually by myself and run around 20 -24 jugs and have them scattered out a bit. It makes it much easier is all.

That's why I like the way we do it........Go up river.......throw out jugs.............go down river and fish 'til the jugs get to ya.... the ones that don't make it down river have fish on them.
