Rick & I hit a very good crappie and walleye lake today for some ice fishing.
The only problem was the high pressure.
You could tell right away with the fish only lifting a few feet from the bottom.
The other tell tale sign was the bite consisted of little fish for the most part.

Walleyes made there showing today.
I managed a few small ones,but Rick bagged a very nice 17"
Here's one of my fingerlings

I did manage a nice eater and added to Rick's catch there will be a nice meal.

I busted off a nice one too.I must have pinched my sinker to tight on that 2 test.
Hopefully the pressure will drop some by tommorow which will pick up the feed.
We will regroup for tommorow at the spot to see if their mood changed.
I also had to be back to work.Sat.will be a full day on the ice.

Another good vidoe Keith. Were those walleye hugging the bottom also?
Wish you the best tomorrow. We are going to get some nasty weather here some time Sat.:confused0024: We are making ice, but slowly. Mike

We are supposed to get 10" tommorow.
Yes,they were hugging the bottom.
Tommorow they will be 2-5 feet off feeding hard with the barometer dropping.
I'm a huge believer in barometric pressure and how it affects the fishes moods.

If I were a betting man we will have a much better day come morning.

I'm glad to see that somebody else believes in that stuff.....I've been fishing for three days "HARD" and have produced very little for my efforts...Did notice the pressure was up most of this week... 30.15 up to 30.42... Seems to me anything over 30.0 sucks.........Started dropping tonight. Maybe tomorrow I'll get lucky.

Try getting smaller with your baits Soupy.
today I had to drop to an 80th to garner any attention.
With my 32nd's and 64th's those fish acted like it was not in their face.Once I dropped down I'd see them react and give chase.
Man do I love real time electronics.

I did try that.... I cut my bait back from 6" to 3" (any smaller , them dang sauger will skin my bait)... Had to cut everything down ...Didn't have any small Shad this trip....Going back this AM to see what happens...Think the pressure went up on me yesterday afternoon....It was "30.46 >" when I got home last night , it was 30.38 when I went down there..Never got a bite !
Pressure this AM is 30.43> wind is ENE at 8mph.....River is steady at 20.1 feet..
Not looking good for me.
