And what pond are we visiting? LOL Just kidding - son-in-law has asked me to go to Morrison but no time till after first of year.

Looks like the perfect one for you and the boy. You get a power auger too?

Tough desission on what shack to get but I think overall you'll like the Shappell. In this area of the country there is a good chance you'll get on ice with water on top. Also having a shack that seals up is nice when we do get real cold weather.
I just got a pair of the Shappell ice anchors to avoid a sailing shack. I carry a power drill and just punch a couple holes to stick them in through the shack floor. They have a nice "t" handle to screw them out if they freeze in.
I think you will be ordering those accessory skis that make it so easy to pull. I KNEW I didn't need any till I had a long pull over a couple inches of wet snow on ice.:confused0024: It will bulldoze the snow till you think you have a ships anchor behind you. lol
Spray the zippers with silicone when you get the chance.
Use short rods if you have them. 18" to 24' lite action w/spring bobbers are nice.:icon_cool::icon_cool:

Hey Mike could you make a list of all ice fishing needs as well as pictures? Maybe a thread on this for the beginner. Also, everyone talks about lures but no one shows pictures of their assortment. You know the basic needs.

wouldnt you know, I bought a brand new shanty friday, My very first and my own, was so excited about getting it out on the ice, well had a seminar with the great Catmatt at Gander Moutain saturday, so wasnt ganna get out till this mornin, well got up about 530 ish had the shanty and poles loaded and went to shed for auger................well someone (aka myself) cleaned up the shed for winter and got all my ice fishng stuff out of the attic well the auger managed to get placed in my step dads boat (Had his boat here for a while) why wasnt place in my boat or somewhere else I dont know, well lest just say forgott it was in there and took his boat out to my grandparents farm to put in a barn for the winter. so I had no auger this mornin, was very upset, so just went back to bed.

Boy, that's a bummer Jason. Not hard to happen though. If I start now I MIGHT have all the stuff ready and in one place for spring fishing. :confused0024:
I went out for a while on the canal. Wanted to get some good pictures for the site while I was there. Arived to find 3 shacks and a lone guy on a bucket. I got in just the right place, got the camera out and it wouldn't work. No wonder, that ole thing is already 2 DAYS old. Found out when I got home the wife BORROWED it last night to make sure it worked well and ran down the batteries. I'll get down in the am and get a 110 volt fence charger to keep the new camera safe till I need it.
The fishing I went for didn't go well either. Tough bite today. Got 26 gills , poured them on the ice to sort . There were only a dozen decent ones so I put them back down the hole for next time. Mike

screen, I'll try to put something together, but will take a bit. Meanwhile, fastest way is with a stick of dinomight and a dip net, but might violate a few local laws.:confused0068: Mike

Those are called schoolies (sp?). Been a long time since I've used them but they would work fine in the canal. I would add a spring bobber though. They still sell them. Mike
