Well only made it morrison today, was ganna head to the Henapein canal near geneseo but roads were pretty bad after the snow storm again last night, was at the park yesterday witha buddy we ended up with around 20 in abot 3 1/2hr time, I went alone today and sat in same spot my bud and I yesterday, I started with 2 poles for the first 5 min after that I couldnt keep up, I only brought home 25 gills but could have brought home at least 50-60 easily, with ones i threw back and one that were little dinks that were thrown back, probably cought close to 80 altogether....wind picked up and it got cold around 10am, I fished about 8-11am

I did however catch my first red ear ice fishing was close to 10inches.
Also one bass lost at hole was a good 14-15inches.

didnt have my camera so took a pic off my cell phone before cleaned the red ear!! I need to get my own camera, wifes gets mad when i take ours!!!

Glad to hear you got on them! Gotta love those Red Ear. They get nice and plump.
Have you fished the bridge there yet? Don't know how it is now, but is supposed to be hot for the early ice. Mike

what bridge are you refering too???

Cought some very nice red ear in there other times of yr but I have never cought one ice fishing before anywhere!!! A freind cought one this yr on my boat that was 1 lb, thats the biggest ive seen in there.

Fished rockwood state park today with abuddy. 150 gills between the 2 of us kept 50, 5-8 fow, ice 5 inches below 2 inches water/slush on top. few black spots showing up on ice, not safe after today!!!!!


Talked to feller out there today about the crappie population...slim to none there, said they sprayed the lake for weed in spring last yr.....the chemicals killed off crappie population to a few, brought in cameras to veiw bottom and crappies laying on bottom dead......usually catch tons in spring and eraly summer...cought maybe a handfull this whole yr....

daggone shame when they"manage" a pond like that.....thats what was wrong last year at a lake down south of me...killed the weeds in early fall an had a terrible fish kill once it iced over

Well with the freeze coming this weekend and the rain getting rid of the snow on top, Rockwood should be good in a week or two for ice fishing.

after this wether its shot for a while, snow as 99% gone on sunday 1/6/08, still in the 50s here right now at 930pm...rain today and next few days....be on the boat in there for too long....ganna take some really close temps to freez it hard...

went out to morrison this mornin with a bud, fished 8am-1145am about 50 gills on the extreme small side only about 10-15 keepers, also a 7inch bass. perfect day to be out, was cold in am but when that sun came out we had the zippers open for some fresh air in shanty, few others out there as well.

short little vid I took off my bud dead stickin a gill. my digi camera shoots a 30 sec film and he hooked right after the the 30 sec, it was small anyway had to let em go....
Oh well was still a great day to be out!!
