As much as I hate to see it the ice is going to be total history around here as the rain has started and is supposed to continue the next couple of days.

There goes the Ice fishing for a spell. We should be getting some more ice making weather in the next week or ten days so we can go back out and play.
But meantime, all this has melted the snow that was in my boat so it's off to the car wash with it and then look out Saugers and Walleyes later this week. Schoe

Has anyone checked out the state of the Henneipin Canal at Isaac Walton? I thought the last time we had a rain that the ice was destroyed for sure, but it turned out it was better than before so I was wondering if it may have survived again.

last time was just some rain, this time weve had a few unseasonably warm days, doubt it survived. The lake I fish in in morrison made it through that first rain and refroze, this spell of wether put holes in the ice to fit a boat in!!!!

Anyone got good ideas for a recent fisher looking for walleye and such in this area...I do have a boat and live in Rock Island just a mile from the rock and also sunset.:confused0024:

Well Travis you live smack in one of the mid wests greatest fisheries, the Mighty Miss. and the Rock River.

This time of the year the Miss offers great Walleye and Sauger fishing here locally and the Rock is second to none for Cat fishing, Channel and Flatheads after ice out and according to CatMatt during the cold months. Watch for Catmatt's seminars that are coming up next month at Gander Mountain in Davenport.

Keep your eye on the posts and don't hesitate to join us on some of our excursions. Schoe

Thanks and I'll take you up on it.....I've put my boat in last fall after I got it, tried some stuff but most of my fishing has been limited to farm ponds and a few lakes up north, no river work. I'll surely look you guys up as soon as that ice is gone out I'm going in.

I live really close to Blackhawk and once this ice lets out I want to really try for walleye and want to know if on the rock I should try around turkey and vangruff islands or go above the dam.

below the locks/dams in the scour holes.....walleye will be a lil shallower as a rule than the sauger....look in the holes or roun the edges of em fer the sauger, git ya started findin em anyway
