Yah! Schoe - The date set yet cause I want to get my reservation in early this year.
I know the 2008 Muddy will be bigger and better especially with all those new smokers ready to be fired up.
Joe has to start putting up mixes, Tim has to feel better this time, Kenny wants to beat DuAnne at fishing, Soupy needs to come up, The OHIO boys have to schedual vacation time, Mike has to make sure no weddings are planned, and just think of all that FOOD!!!!!!!!!!

This year will be the same as last year. The Sat. following Labor Day. I haven't got a calender handy so I'm not sure of the date.

I think this will be the Sat. after Labor day from now on. Schoe

To All:

I am already starting to recieve phone calls about this years gathering at Rock Creek Marina & Campground! Sounds like we'll have plenty of new faces.

My staff and I are looking forward to hosting this great gathering once again. FYI-We are setting our 2008 prices in the near future. Prices should be similar to years past. We do our best to keep our rates as low as possible. Our board meets the second week of February and will be setting rates then.

Also- Mississippi River Eco-Tourism Center update: We are in the middle of the fundraising process. Nearly 30 volunteers have been meeting weekly since August and all the hard work is starting to show. We are awaiting for answers from several donors. Keep your fingers crossed, hopefully by September $1.5 million + will have been raised and all of you can witness first hand the this great project being built! Thanks again WhereIfish for your contribution last year.

Feel free to contact me with Questions at (563)-349-8680, the fish may be biting so leave a message if I don't answer.

Not enough can be said for our host Eric. This is a very bizzy man and he still makes time to join in our fishing conversations and tell us where we might find that cat, gill or bass.
I tell you, I have been to all of Schoe's gatherings at Rock Creek and you are in for a real treat in this camping gem in the backwaters of the Mississippi.

It's great to hear the positive response on this tournament. Hard to think about September when the snow is falling and the highs for this weekend aren't to get above 5!!! I should have waited a couple weeks to take that trip to Florida.

If any of you are heading south, take a look at www.vikingfleet.com (http://www.vikingfleet.com) I took a weekend trip out of Tarpon Springs and had a blast, great people and crew.

I forgot to post my e-mail address in my last post, so any of you wishing to contact me via e-mail may do so at:

should deffinetly be alot bigger, WIF's picked up some great members over the last yr. thers also a lot from the QC area. With the muddy being held in camanche, IA not to far from the QC so better see a lot more members make an apperance and partake in the festivities.

Eric - My brother lived in Tarpon Sprigs for 7 years. We went out in his 22' Mark Twain most of the time but went out on the Milwaukee party boat once for grouper. Great port just north of Tampa. If you like Greek food that is one town you will find the best. When the sponge (sp) business went bad the community went into tourism with tons of shops and restaurants. If your looking for a vacation spot that caters to you(fishing) and the wife(shopping), Tarpon Spring is the place.

Schoe,Sounds like its going to be a Dandy,Are we sticking to Channel Cat only as it has been in the past??Talked to ole Stump Bumper this week
and he is willing to drive from Val Rico Fl to attend, but will need a partner
with a boat, and we may see some more of our southern friends also.
Settin here thinking about SEPT and it is 6 degrees out, waitin on April,
I got trot lines made up here in my room for Ky Lake, had to hang them
from the curttin rods to put them together,is that Cabin Fever or not:confused0024: Kirk

Kirk - You have it bad! Yah it's hard to think of Sept. when you want spring to come.
Any more you have to plan way ahead for the Muddy because it is becoming such a big event. Rock Creek is an ideal place for WIF's big event of the year.
For those who want Hotel comforts. They are only ten minutes away so PM me and I will get you the phone #'s. Only one thought is if it is like last year with a summer flood you will need high content of deet for the new state bird of Iowa. LOL

Got that problem solved Screen,1st im one of the luck ones that they
seldom bite and we have a couple of repellant kits that are great get it going and there aint a bug with in 150 radius,Schoe was going to

them they are Amazing.:party0045: Kirk

Yep Kirk, Schoe got them skeeter repellers. The only problem was that them skeeters at Rock Creek carried them away last year. :icon_biggrin:

01-27-2008, 05:26 AM
there were so many skeeters an flies in our cabin every night the boy killed em fer an hour fore bed

Schoe
01-27-2008, 06:25 AM
They were horrible alright. I did get with that company that has those repellents and their distributor got back with me that I will be a dealer for the product. I will get busy on that so I will have an ample supply of them. Schoe

capt.kirk
01-27-2008, 06:33 AM
Schoe,When you get them,I will take 2 more. Kirk

Souix
01-27-2008, 07:23 AM
Schoe,Im the one that needs them, they worked very well down fishing
the Apalatchacola, you know who had me backed into the bushes, lit that
thing up and in about 10 min there were no bugs except dead ones. Souix

Schoe
01-27-2008, 08:06 AM
Well Sioux I wasn't aware that they actually killed the bugs or just ran them off. However, it makes no never mind as to how they work but they do WORK.

I personally was sceptically about the ThermoCELL when I first saw it and held one in my hand and put it aside until someone ( I believe it was Ranger Eric) at the Mighty asked what it was and fired it up. Dam if it didn't clear the area of Mosquito's within five minutes.

I will contact the company again and get lined up to place an order for a few cases to have on hand. Schoe

If I would have had 50 of those units I could have sold them all that weekend.

Tee
01-27-2008, 08:36 AM
I use them all the time and nothing else. They work GREAT!

Schoe
01-27-2008, 10:07 AM
Yes sir, this year's Mighty Muddy should be fantastic. Again we will have a portion of entry fees going to the Eco Project there at Rock Creek .

I am starting plenty early gathering up sponsors and getting the word out to the area's Cat fishermen. It would be great to have 100 + entry's which we will strive for.

This area has some great businesses that will be approached for door prizes and donations for the large payouts that we will guarantee

If anyone has some contacts for this please let us know. Every little bit will help. Schoe

man I cant wait lookin forwarx to the get together and campin...100 plus entries be awsome but not sure how that fit in the marina, be a tight fit!!! might have to go fw days early and do some bird huntin, those skeeters were huge.

I picked up one them skeeter repellers that schoe as my door prize at last yrs might muddy, I tell you them work fantastik sittin around a picnin table, we used the beegeez out of that thing here where I have a trailer along the Rock river, sittin at a tbale under awning and not a damn skeeter to be found... schoe talk to the company about etting the refill packs too, could sell them out the muddy too...

I really like to do some fishn when I come up early so I think I may just tent it this yr instead of bringin the camper. that way I can brin my boat up instead of wait til night before when my fishing partner brings it up....

Hey All,

Sorry for the delay in updates from Rock Creek. We've had a bad start to spring/summer with the early flooding and lots of rain, but things are slowly starting to look up as we have started to get our docks in and the rest of the campground dry enough to be open!

The Mississippi River Eco-Tourism Center is closing in on our goal of $1.5 Million. As of this weekend we have just over $1 Million pledged, with a few large donors still waiting to finalize their donations.

September is just a few short months away and by then I hope that all who attend the Mighty Muddy Camp In can help celebrate the end of our fund raising campaign!

For those who are attending and want cabins, please contact me a.s.a.p. as they are filling up. I know I have a couple of you in the books already.

For those that are near by, the walleye bight is just starting to pick up. Schoe, you better take a few hours in the next couple of weeks and get up here.

I have been trolling and casting Frenzy Flicker shads for the better part of 2 years and are my go to bait now. no need to spend 6-8$ on Rapala's when Frenzy's catch as many or more fish. look for gravel bottoms in 6-14 ft.

good luck
