Well in spring and fall when the pannies are feeding hard I'll work the shore or weed edges.I like to hang T.H.E. Jig 1-3 foot below a bobber.I'll give the reel a crank or 2 and pause. When reeling I'm reeling sort of slow watching for a tick on the bobber then I'll stop. The bobber will go sideways or sink and I'll rear as soon as it does anything.

During mid summer I like to work floating docks on the shady side.
Sometimes I'll slip bobber it in deeper water if I'm marking fish.
I might even cast.Casting is the hardest.A very small sinker above the jig, light line and a good rod is required.
Once casted I'll do an 8 second countdown. Then a crank or two and pause and repeat .
I like to work under bridges in the shade on hot days too.

spillways behind dams are fun spots if you can find calmer water.
Heavy current is not a place to look.

Yes I do.The only 2 times is if I'm verticle jigging over the side of the boat or casting which is not often.

I use slip floats a lot in the open water. I use carlisle floats and adjust the shot weight to pull it down to near negative bouancy. I'll need to change that this spring as I intend to use more mono. I'll downsize the float so I don't need so much weight to keep the float deep for less resistance..
Neat thing about Power pro is that you can hang most any amount of weight on it .:icon_cool: Mike

I do all my open water fishin witha slip float, I have a couple crappie spinners but never any success with them,
I would assume the 1/80 and 1/64 size most popular (seems it would be for the area I fish and what has worked for me) in spring open water. are you more likely to upsize your jigs or down once summer rolls around..

The 64th size is all I've ever needed come summer.
I'll catch a few thousand pannies most years this way.
