THE biggest fish i have ever caught

Would be a florida Gar Measured 48 inches long weight was 16 pounds caught on a gold rattle trap,and 12# yozuri line. It also came from florida .A friend of mine (keith ) took me fishing on garcia, bass fishing but this was the big fish for the day!

Gars are COOL, our English Friend, Stephen that guides for Wels cats in Spain is planning
on trying to get over here to do some fishing an one of the things he wants to specifically
target are Alligator Gars

From what I understand ya can get em making "teaser" out of heavy partially unraveled
nylon rope, the fish hit it it gets caught in their teeth

yup that is what i have heard too. The alligator gars get ALOT bigger then the florida gars do!

The fellow Tim was talking about , Stephen Buss is coming over from Spain in June and I will have the pleasure of fishing with him in Texas for those trophy Gars.

Nope no gar scar,walleye scar ,sauger scar, musky scar,an no i have never shot myself with a nail gun,or cut myself with a saw! lol I like my body parts exactly the way they are LMAO.
That gar was so tired when i finally got her to the boat i picked her up with one hand under her belly lol. had to stuff her in a weight bag to get a weight!None of the scales we had would hold onto her!:confused0024:

Needless to say, Gar isn't really a local species 'round my way, but it sounds like an adventure if you get a hold of one of those Texas Gar.

They are a blast to catch,some days in florida my self and a fishin
buddy would spend some time just to go target those gar,since they
got that long nose it will make you Jerk Silly,they take a while to get
that bait in far enough,and they can be Very Sneeky while there
mouthin that bait line can go out 40 ft on the pick up an it dont
mean SQUAT,I learned words from ny buddy that i hadnt heard before :evilgrin0031: Kirk
