Floating Bait Pen

Just build me a new bait pen the other day for the upcoming Flathead tournaments. Hopefully this one will last me all the way through the FCC. I got to looking around on the internet and to order one from there could cost anywhere from $80.00 to almost $200.00! No way! I went to Home Depot, spent around $20.00 and built my own. I figure it will hold around 50 or 60 hand size Bream for three or four days til Tournament time. All I need to do is zip tie a kid's Float Noodle around the top and it's ready to go....Ray

That's good lookin'. One of my friends used one of those pop-up clothes hampers as a "livewell" last year, your version of a bait pen looks much better (& sturdier).

I normally keep a loose cover on it to keep the Warmouth or fiesty Bream from jumping out. When it's tied to Donnie's dock the biggest thing I have to watch for is "Baby" the Owl eyeballing it at night....but that's a whole nuther story....Ray

Every time I start getting anxious about coming up to the river, I'll go out in the garage and sit in the boat....pack....then repack my gear....check my rods and reels .... ect.... ect. Two years ago I built 4 bait pens out of boredum. Hope it won't get that bad this year....LOL....Ray
