Man am I excited, I just got a call from a friend that invited me to fly to Louisiana for a few days to fish for Red Fish and Speckled Trout and I had to accept.

Normally the wife and I have been wintering in Fla. but due to circumstances we didn't go this year. I sure can pick the year to stay home as this is the worst winter to come along in a long time.

Anyway, the limits in Louisiana are a lot more liberal than Fla. with 5 Reds a day and 25 Speckled Trout per day.

I will keep updating as time goes on. Schoe

Schoe, Great news!! Sure not trying to get rid of you, but know how anxious you are to get away from this area for a deserved break.
Are you going to take along a few ice rings to fish through so you'll feel at home? lol lol
I've heard those reds can put up quite a tussle.:icon_cool::icon_cool::icon_cool:

Sounds like fun Schoe. Hope the fish cooperate with ya when ya go. Heck just going to where it is warm would be enough.

I am jealous to no end. That sounds like quite the trip. Have always wanted to go out after some Redfish, never had the opportunity. Definitely give us some updates (and take some pictures).

The people we are fishing with www.rodnreel.com/captphil/index.asp looks like a first class operation and I can hardly wait to be there.

Yes, there will be plenty of photos and hopefully some video footage to share.

If this works out after talking to these folks it could turn into an annual affair for WIF members in the month of March.

Let's see, temps in March in Louisiana 70--80, temps in Illinois -5---20. Yeah, it's very doable. Schoe

You aren't kiddin' Kirk. I checked out the website - those rates are a downright steal, especially for lodging. It's a different animal, but I'm in the infant stage of planning a fishing trip/vacation to the Florida Keys for this fall, and in comparison...well, there's no comparison!!!

I heard that Gordon. I'm more than ready and really tired of this cold weather. Some sort of Flu bug got me over last weekend but I think it has ran it's course. Schoe

Well, three more days and we will be on our way. Going to pack my stuff tomorrow and hopefully I have what I need. As always I will take way more than I need but it's better to have it than not.

I'm packing three Acadia rigs so we all will have a chance to give them a workout along with my Cannon Digital camera and my Sony Video Cam. I won't pack fillet knives or processing supplies as this service is all included, so all in all I can travel very light.

I don't know if we will have INTERNET access but if we do I will report on our success Fri. Schoe

Glad your snows about gone up there. Mother nature decided to take a dump on us down here. Leaving us with 10-18 inches in most places. So much for the global warming theory. :icon_biggrin:

yeah, no kidding, that global warming sure did hit us hard this year..near record snow fall for the year and we still have at least 16 inches of ice on the backwaters right now when usually this time of year the ice fishing season is done...how do the global warming scientists explain that?
