Gofish,
up untill this year, I never used anything artificial, justs worms and minnows for panfish. That is a lot of useful info you posted. Hopefully when we are in KY next month, by watching you I will get a better idea what I am doing wrong.

Gofish- I just changed my name to anyone!! Anyone is interested. :)
I attended a local fishing show this spring. There was a crappie fisherman from Belview, IA. that done a talk on river crappie fishing.
I found out that certain areas of the Mississippi River main channel hold crappie all winter. Like most there, I thought they were mostly in the backwaters. Now I'm considering a boat change to crappie fish the river I was born on. :D
He also felt that 2"-3" minnows were best for very early crappie as that is what they are feeding on. He based that on the fact that there are no new year class minnows available yet. Mike
