Arrived at lake at about 10 AM water about seven feet above normal , water temp 56 degrees. Fished until about seven and for the first time in my memory was skunked, zilch, zero not one bite that I detected. Next morning was on lake at 5 AM. As I moved through the arms and bays of the lake I found water from 71 degrees to 56 degrees. Water very muddy. Letting lake level down. Around 10 AM caught three crappie in one bay, a 14 inch, 13 inch and a 9 1/2 inch. Caught them on minnows and had thrown every thing else as well as drifted over lots of ?fish finder fish?. Caught about a three pound channel on an ultra-lite. Must have thrown it in her mouth as the bait had not reached the bobber stop when I saw the line go sideways. Oh was that a good time. As typically happens at Rathbun the wind came up and finally chased me off the lake. Three foot waves and no boat dock makes for some interesting boat loading. Had a great time and like Timatha says thats why they call it fishing not catching. All three crappie were females and little ones eggs farthest along.
