I Recieved my Rod today. was like a kid at christmas triing to get that box open!..lol..
I am going to be testing the Acadia new M Series RMC-701-M. This is a 7ft 1 peice baitcaster rod.
I am not sure if the color of this rod now is the actaul color its going to be as this is sample rod for testing. The Pole is Grey in Color, 9 Guides. AS with all acadias sleek, slim, Tough as nails Design. I am not a bass fisherman so all the fancy rod colors dont mean anything to me anyway, I really like the plain color look to this rod..I am still amazed at the slim design to these, yet the backbone it offers, just doesnt seem right, but it works!!!
I will be placing a Diawa baitcaster reel on here that I currently have teamed up with my Acadia Fseries 6'6" baitcaster rod. Looking forward to hookin a cat with this puppy and put the strain on it!!
I will be heading to Lake Shabbona this weekend where some impressive sized cats being cought. 6-15lbs..

That is a sweet looking rod
it is a proto-type so the colors and stickers (purties) are not final yet
Can't wait to hear how it performs

Took my rod up to Shabbona Lake this weekend. Spent the night up there gill fishin, took my new rod along for some testing if I got into some cats. Saturday had no oppertunity with the weather, sunday however I did. After gill fishing for a while my wife was tired so she took a break while I got out the new rod and put on a frog I had, (one of the very few bass lures I have) tossed it up near some lilys a few times to get the feels, something just didnt feel right with the rod, didint feel like my other 4 rods I have of acadia, 2 spinning and 2 baitcasting all in the F series, well after a few cast decied to move to a new location and try for some cats, first threw a little dip bait, had a few nibbles but nothing would bite so I could test the rod reeling in a fish, switched to 1/2oz walking sinker and nightcrawler, casted out and let it sit a few minutes with nothing, well as
time got closer to pack up I decided to give a little tug on the pole "as if im setting the hook" and SNAP, 2 seperate places the rod just snapped, no splinter from the fiberglass just snapped in peices. I was at a total loss of words didnt know what to say...Looked to my wife and shej ust sat there with her mouth open, like what just happened!!! I have never seen a pole snap like that the way it did, just snap no splinter off...took a pic of the pole not good how they look...
In other words I was a little dissapointed in this rod!! Didint seem to bad casting the frog, but soon as I swithched to dip worm and then the nightcrawler, pole just didnt seem right, I did have a 6'6" spinning acadia with me as I was using 2 rods as I was tryiing for some cats, didnt catch any today, but I have cought several on that rod this spring since I got it.
Maybe these rods are meant for the bass/panfish anglers and not the catfisherman,
Even more bad news..I have never broke a fishing pole (while fishing) few broke in the boat by stepping on them or closing in tailgate on the truck, never actually fishing with them before, but I have broke 2 acadias in the last week, mid week last week,I broke a 6ft spinning rod catfishing a pond in Sterling on aa 1/4 oz egg sinkers...This was a rod I just got for xmas this yr...

unusual to see a rod blank break that way
Will definitely be something that needs to be looked at
This can happen when doing ground zero testing on proto-type gear of any sort
and why Lee is having us do this for them
Know it is something that they will take a very close look at

Tim, I know this material there using in the "test"rods is different than what theyll use for the real deal, My other rod that broke last week splintered like all other rods Ive ever seen broke, this a mid shat break right above first guide on a 2pc rod. Just not right ive broke 2 of there rods in a week, and Ive nerver broke one fishing before!! Still kinda thrown off by the whole deal today..

It is graphite, won't splinter like glass will for the most part
Send Lee Email bout the Xmas rod, let him know what happened, those rods are guaranteed for life and they will take care of it
Rods do break sometimes, but not many manufacturers back them with the lifetime replacement warranty

I was a little concerned about this. We used a little higher modulus graphite in this rod. While the "big guys" brag about their high modulus rating (85+), the truth is the higher the modulus, the more brittle the rod becomes. Normally, they compensate by adding a carbon mix to strengthen the rod. All of our rods in the past have been 98% graphite. We have not done a mix.
We will have to either mix a little or reduce the graphite content just a little.

Maybe the different type rod is what made the rod just not feel right to me when fishing!!
I personally liked the stiffness to the back bone, heard some talk about being to stiff, also the handle felt a little longer than noraml, but wasnt anything uncomfortable or that I would reccomend for a change!!
